Does Drew have to play SS on Monday? Iggy is cruising.

Yeah really. Will be nice if Drew comes in and starts cruising all the same. Not a terrible thing to have that positional competition, I think. Props to Iggy for doing better so far than most everyone gave him credit for

Well lets not go to overboard on posters. Morcom would have likely been worth a gamble given the lack of ST pitching depth on this team. Heran may have even been worth it.

The Sox tried to pull JJ out of the three player deal and it did not work. Then again, the Jays wanted Reyes and the Sox saw Reyes as the poison pill in that deal. Reyes not looking like much of a poison pill yet. The season is young though and we all know how quick the dunce cap can show up on ballplayers that are prone to it.

Certainly glad they passed on Dickey. Never wanted to see him in a Sox uni. Besides we likely would have stormed down there and tarred and feathered somebody for giving up what the Mets were asking for him.

I disagree, jong. I think with Listor, Bichheltz, Lockay, Dimpstir, Deabrint, and the other guys on the roster capable of making starts, the team is okay!

Mark DeRosa is 100 years old. Seriously, I forgot he was still playing, I thought the Cubs sent him off to live with a nice farm family years ago.

The nice farm family returned him.

Dickey is still leaving so many balls up that the Sox are just waiting for that one and jumping all over it.

"The Jays just put some huge room between us. Cherington is just too slow on the trigger. I can't imagine how he didn't get in on some of those players."

Who said that?

Oh come on. The first thing we thought of was Ace is really the guy that will be called on if Lackey can't go. You really want to see Ace out there starting games. Ya' gotta be kidding me. Huge huge dif between starting and relieving and Ace is now suspect as a reliever!

Did you go back and delete those posts? Otherwise, they aren't phantoms. Maybe skeletons in your closet?
Go find the posts. I think the Jays made a good trade and had an excellent offseason. I still think so. None of the prospects they traded are starting in the majors and the best prospect they traded was trapped behind Arencebia. I didn't bitch about not getting Dickey, but I did bitch about getting Dempster for the same money. I still think Dempster for $26 million was a bad deal.

Let's just give Toronto the division. They're loaded.

"Wake up Ben!"

So wasn't the sox two years ago and we all know what happened. When will people ever learn its not about the size of the contracts of the players, but the size of their hearts.

I want to roll up a newspaper and smack you on the nose with it.

Dickey will settle in and figure out the AL hitters. He did shut down several good AL teams last year and had some big big games. I think this is just early season woes for him. He'll be fine.

Haren was probably the best bet of the bunch, considering cost/certainty, but he wanted no part of the Sox. JJ's velocity has been diminishing for years, only one year of control and expensive. Marcum is post-op and had obvious health issues. Buehrle, a soft-tossing lefty in Fenway (and expensive to boot) would have been a disaster. Dickey's a knucler. No explanation needed.

It's common sense stuff.
