Yeah that .728 career OPS and .305 OBP are monster numbers. Hitting a couple bombs a year doesn't take make a s***** hitter any less s*****.

Actually by definition, I think it does make a s***** hitter a little less s*****. However, it doesn't mean he's not s*****, which I think should be your point.

No it doesn't. In this case, the point is that hitting a couple bombs for a guy who does not get on base or hit well with RISP really doesn't mean much.

Iglesias sucks.

Salty sucks.

Iglesias will never be a starting MLB SS, Salty should not be a starting MLB catcher.........and Josh Beckett is still an *******. I smile when I check up on the Dodgers....

Speaking of SS, I miss Scutaro :(

Scutaro moved to 2B in the NL. He is not a SS over there. At his age, he lacks the range.

In Boston, there is a preference for offense over defense, so he plays SS. He's much better at 2B range-wise, and can hit some.

Salty has improved IMO. At least from the perspective that we are winning games now when he catches. We are 19-11 in his starts at catcher. His CERA still isn't great but that seems to be mainly because of a few blowout losses.

Iggy up, playing 3B tonite. The kid has played about 2 games in the minors at 3B, and now he has to play there at Fenway. Life just ain't fair. Right, Daniel Bard?

What? They are making a roster spot for him when they're probably shouldn't be. How is that unfair?

Logic need not apply in SoxSport's world.

I don't know how you can't play Iggy while he is hot. If he is the future SS then let him play and ride this hot streak. When he is hitting like this he is a better player then Drew because he ups the D as well.

It appears that Farrell does not believe in hot streaks. I guess he does not believe in cold streaks either. He ends up sounding an awful lot like a fan. I expect us to blow up small signs of optimism into potential turned corners. Surely what Farrell says might just be media-speak but what he says appears to mate up to what he does.

Wouldn't buying into hot streaks and cold streaks make him more of a fan?

Tito was the same. That's why I suspect the FO is calling the shots. You never want to take a guy out when he going good. That includes pitching.

They sent Iggy down when he was doing well. How would you feel if it was you? It's just a piss-poor way of handling a young player. That's why I think their FO sucks.

Speier is doing a series at WEEI on the Red Sox organization. He says Henry is a very passive, hands-off guy. Werner has no role whatsoever--has a small stake in the team. Maybe 10%. Henry isn't even a majority owner at 40%. That leaves LL and the FO to run the team. And Lucchino has been mainly selling tickets since Epstein took off his gorilla suit and demanded more team control. So the FO has been pretty much running the show for quite awhile, even though Henry fired Tito and Epstein last year. He had to do something because of the collapse.

Iggy needs to play. He is better at SS then Drew for the Sox if he only hits .250 because of the steller D. If you say Drew is a better hitter then Iggy and that is why he should play then you lose that argument because Drew himself is not hitting. If your argument to play Drew is about what the Sox are paying him then are you fielding the team that gives you the best chance to win?

Drew has played well above average D though. Only one error and a UZR/150 of +21.8. Plus he did have a nice hot streak with the bat.

That being said I think Iglesias has also shown well. I won't be surprised if Drew is traded.

I don't think their FO agrees with you. They place more emphasis on offense at every position, which I think is a mistake. They look at Drew's career stats. That's what they go by. Plus the big salary he's getting. They are biased toward veterans over prospects.

They went with Bradley and Iggy early because was Bradley was a draw and Drew was hurt.

I think politics sometimes interferes with fielding the best team to win. That's true of a lot of organizations--but never the Yankees.

Drew has limited range. He may have slowed up a bit after the ankle injury.
