Once Youk is back, give Adrian a couple of days off in order to put his s*** together, of course if the problem is in his mind.

Well, Gonzalez already said he is going to hit a HR today. I think A-Gon will hopefully come around. You can tell he is getting frustrated, especially if he is coming out and publicly stating that it is a problem and that he is making predictions when he is going to hit a HR.

Will Rhymes' x-rays came back negative. I don't know how that fastball didn't break his forearm.

So in the end, he just got a little boo-boo and passed out.

May 17 Doubront (head) was checked for a concussion and has been cleared to start Thursday, the Boston Globe reports. Doubront was hit in the head during batting practice Tuesday, an event that appeared scary at the time.

Unless Gonzo breaks out in the next game or two, let him take a breather and have Youk play first for a game or two before WMB gets sent down. Let him clear his mind a little bit.

I love how they flirt around 500 just to get swept by TB. Philly will probably become great again when we face them.

Lets hope it doesn't get too ugly.

It is not hard to figure out what is happening with Gonzo. If he picks on pitches that are green light, home run pitches and swings for the fences he will likely hit one out. If that happens the question will then be how often he picks on those pitches and puts power strokes on them from then on.

I can believe he is a good enough hitter to hit A home run if he gets the right pitch and swings at it. Although by the end of last night, he was all over the place. Couple days in the batting cage might be a better idea before he starts trying to press to hit a home run.

If AGons is saying he has been taking his usual (meaning 25+ HR per year) approach to his plate appearances so far this year, I would call ********. In fact if he is predicting a HR I would bet that it is in part because he knows exactly what he has and has not been doing at that plate and believes he can go back to his previous approach and hit a HR or HR's but for how long? There is no question that he knows how to do it although from where he was last night his timing might be so screwed up now that he might be better off getting his act together in a batting cage or in BP before trying to crank it up in play.

Ya it was really a let down to lose last night, but the way I look at it is we won five in a row. That's pretty impressive. We matched Tampa very well last night and I am pretty confident we can beat them tonight. If they win tonight that's six wins out of the last seven. They should have some pretty good confidence when they play Philly.

Also I'll point out the Sox won't have to make Philly look good. They are doing a pretty good job of that on they're own lately. They have won four straight now. I think it will be a fun series but I'm not looking forward to the tough challenge they provide. Will be a hell of a test.

Gonzo has a point. That strike 1 call was atrocious.

Umpires have been pathetic. Absolutely pathetic.

Almost have to go with Nava hitting leadoff tonight, no?

Sweeney is hitting .172/.200/.172 in the leadoff slot.

Aviles hasn't taken a walk since May 8th and has a .258 OBP in May (15 Games). Not that he was ever that disciplined, but he's been an even more free swinger lately it seems (although he's had 2 knocks in each of his last 2 games).

Nava, meanwhile, has taken 6 walks in 7 games since coming up (and 3 HBP to boot), has an OBP of .643, and is driving the ball to all fields. He's the hot hand right now.

Gotta go with the hot hand.

Rhymes said it was the first time he has passed out.

Guess Rhymes is actually a teenage girl.

Seriously, I am glad it was nothing serious. Just a temporary low blood pressure thing. It could have been some fluke heart issue that had nothing to do with him being hit. I remember once playing a pickup game of football and some kid went out for a pass and never came back: he fell to the ground dead with a heart arrhythmia.

Good for Rhymes; now lets beat the snot out of the Rays today.

Like I said just at the start of one of the recent games...I have given up on the umps this year. I never thought they would be this bad....this inconsistent. There is inconsistent like an ump that calls a pitch one thing one time and another thing another time. That is bad enough. However I am not sure I have ever seen so much inconsistency from one ump to the next as far as the strike zone itself.

I know that MLB does not enforce at least to any great degree how an ump sets up behind the catcher and I must admit that some of that depends on who is catching. However I do think it can be more regimented than it is. Some umps have such a restricted view of one side of the plate or the other, I am not sure what they think they are seeing. Maybe that is not a cure but it might be a step in the right direction because for me it is the inconsistency one ump to the next that is really maddening.

The new technology that logs balls and strikes is really making the home plate umps look bad. It's almost funny that one of the places you can get this information is right on MLB's very own Gameday.

It's a pathetic situation, really. Umps are making blatantly bad calls that affect games, the fact that the calls are wrong is right there in everyone's face, and nothing is done about it. Selig certainly has no plans to ever address it.

Adrian must be in a greatly positive state of thought to guarantee a long ball tonight. That's good, even if he does not live up to the HR but hopefully still produces that'll be good enough. Positive thoughts have proven to change the physical world. So, with $300+ million not producing & on the DL in the form of TWO individuals I'm all for the positive thought.
