Actually it was Thursday, not Wednesday, a cold rainy day making it even less advised for Josh to be out there with his "stiff back". However regardless of the day it happened it obviously adds more fuel to the fire currently burning down at Fenway Park.

Way ta' go Josh. What a jerk!

f***ing christ. What the hell is wrong with these people?

It would be great if MLB could have non-guaranteed contracts and have the ability to cut guys for being douchy and disloyal to the team.

At the risk of being repetitive, Beckett is a cancer in the clubhouse. His behavior is consistently selfish and insubordinate. He has the kind of entitlement attitude that belongs elsewhere. The Texas Tough Guy has to go. This year.

Beckett is done in Boston. He's a f***ing piece of s*** that needs to go. I don't give a crap about anything he's done in the past, or what his talent level could be. This is inexcusable. If I was John Henry, I'd have his ass traded to some team in a third world country where it is always cold, and fans will throw rocks at you for stuff like this.

You know what the worst part is? 9.09 ERA Buchholz is teeing off right next to him. That's the worst part, he's bringing the whole team down with him. Its time to move on, some other team is going to want him. I'd eat the money just for the pleasure of trading him to the friggen Pirates.

When Manny did stuff like this, the organization was trying so hard to trade him out. But you know what? Atleast Manny still hit like a hall of famer. Beckett is Texas white trash, mediocre garbage.

I wonder how the Fenway Faithful are going to respond to Beckett tomorrow night since he will be starting at home. Will they boo the pure-t-hell out of him or not as soon as he is announced or not?

I have tickets for the game tomorrow night. And I'm going to scream terrible things at the top of my lungs.

Another overblown story.

Just like beer and chicken. They interviewed Cody Ross the other day on WEEI and he was saying "That's present in every clubhouse".

People are just pissed off about September, and rightfully so, but they're taking out every bit of anger on Beckett. The whole beer and chicken thing is just something for people to pile on.

And the same thing is happening with this. Who freaking cares if he went out and played golf. Yes, it probably wasn't the best thing he could have done, but who cares. Maybe he was feeling a bit better and thought he may be able to stretch it out a little. Maybe he was playing in a scramble and only chipped and putted. Nobody knows this s***.

And ya know what the worst part is?? How many of you have ever called out of work "sick" and gone and done something you wanted to do (i.e. golf, just relaxed, whatever), but regardless, you weren't sick. By no means am I justifying that or saying that it's any less reason to be pissed, in fact, if he did fake the injury, there would be indescribably more reason to be pissed at him, BUT...

Don't be a hypocrite. Everyone has done it. Yes it's ********. Yes it's ridiculous. Yes I'd be pissed too. But nobody can say a word because everyone has done the exact same thing. And don't say "But he's making all this money" because it's the principle, and if someone who was making less than you was judging you for this, you would say the exact same thing.

This. Plus, and I realize that I'm a Beckett homer and an biased, how is everything his fault or because of his influence. There are 25 grown men on this team. He isn't the f***ing hypno-toad. Regardless of whether he's the "ringleader" or not, these guys are big boys and make their own choices.

Hey I do too! Where are you sitting?

Upper bleachers, L41. I usually go for the cheap tickets-- Its way more fun to see ten games at $10 a piece than two games at $50 a piece.

I'm not sure where we're sitting. I'm going with some of my uncles and cousins who are in town, and they bought the tickets. I'll post on here when I figure it out though. We're in the CF bleachers I believe.

Put it into perspective though. Its one thing to skip a bullpen session, or practice, but a game is a game. Have you ever called out sick on a day when you were making a big presentation, or had an important meeting to go to? He only has to go out there one day a week, maybe two. If I had a job that only absolutely needed me once a week, in front of millions of fans, I would show up that one day a week.

After his last start, Beckett complained that "It's kind of been there for about a week, kind of leading into my last start," Beckett said. "On your start day, you can always make yourself believe that things are better than they are. I really wanted to pitch. I just ended up making things worse."

So, he's hurting the week before, and he skips his start because of the soreness... and goes out and does an activity that could potentially make it worse?

Twenty-somethings needs babysitters just as much as children, especially twenty-somethings with money:lol:

I'm sure there are plenty of people who have called out if there was a bi-weekly meeting that was going on (which is essentially what is going on here, that would be 26 meetings a year). If it was a bi-weekly meeting, yes, I have called out of work sick before.

It's not like he's calling out sick from a post season game, or a Yankee game, so I don't think it's like calling out from a presentation. It's not even as major as a bi-weekly meeting, if you're going based on the frequency of occurrence.

If he misses his next start because he was hurt worse from golfing, fine. But that's not the case. I understand the frustration, but I don't understand the hypocrisy, because there's an abundance of it.

How is it being hypocritical? Me calling out of a job and hanging around all day or playing a game is in no way comparable to me injuring a part of me that is vital to my work and then being stupid enough to do an activity that could possibly exacerbate that injury when I'm given time off to recoup. No matter what, what he did was f***ing stupid. It doesn't matter if he misses his next start because of this or if he comes back completely fine, what does matter is he was stupid enough in the first place to take that risk.

Those defending him here are crazy. Guys' date=' he missed his start to play golf, something that would exacerbate his "injury"[/quote']

First off, it's not just this, it's everything. People pile on to this guy because he was dubbed the ringleader by the media.

Second off, I'm not defending him. I'm saying that nobody knows exactly went on at the golf course. Nobody knows how he felt that day. Nobody knows if he was chipping and putting or if he was just taking it easy off the tee box.

What if the guy was having a big fight with his wife, and he needed to get away from everything before it blew up, so he called Buchholz and had him meet up at the golf course to get away from it all??

Everyone just jumps to these assumptions about it, and players aren't going to come out and tell everything because they all hate the media, so they're not going to justify a story, regardless of whether it's legitimate or not.

And finally - I'm saying there's a very good chance that everyone here is a hypocrite if they've never called out of work sick for golf or to relax, skipped class to go out and hang out with your friends, or just bailed on any prior commitment because you wanted to do something else.

Oye.

I was joking. Beckett gets the blame for everything.

Because he is a f***ing tool.He the so Called VET and the young guys prob. look up to him and he does s*** like that

It's probably Beckett's fault that Buchholz is throwing so bad.

I think Beckett has not helped his development, that's for certain.

Buchholz has poor composure on the mound, and only gets by with his great stuff. Have you ever looked at Buchholz and said to yourself "This guy is going to be a bigtime leader in the clubhouse" ? I fully admit I've never met the guy, but he seems like very much the kind of person who is not a leader, but a follower.

After being arrested for stealing those laptops all those years ago, his words were "That was a mistake. I was hanging out with the wrong person". Old habits die hard.
