No. I. Am. Not.

Do you speed? Yes. Do I speed? Yes.

Do I rip you for speeding? No.

That's what is going on here.

SO when a multimillionaire who has 35 big days in front of millions screws one of them for a game of golf, we should just ignore it because we all do it. That is a boatload of horseshit, and it is a justification.

Ok' date=' Jacko and SFF I don't think you're gonna argue this one to completion so why don't we just drop it?[/quote']

You're just mad because you ran out of popcorn and it's raining so you can't go to CVS to restock.

Never said you ignore it.

You can be mad about it. You can be pissed about it.

But as soon as you pass judgement, you're being a hypocrite, and that's all I'm saying. But hey, maybe you're ok with being a hypocrite.

EDIT: We'll just agree to disagree.

Everyone, jump on board.

My boy Beckett at it again. It's about time everyone see him for who he truly is. Wasn't he yet another one of those guys still on this team that I said they should get rid of last offseason?

I guess I'm not a hypocrite cause I don't get paid millions to play a game, take time off of said game faking injury to play golf. Nope never done that. Would I be a hypocrite if I judged the BTK killer as well because I have driven over the speed limit?

You have to think that the brass is at least thinking about the prospect of trading him now. Only thing is it might be hard to do it without getting totally screwed.

So frustrating that the only SP they have that truly knows how to pitch is also one of the biggest jerks on the planet.

Its not worth it. Some players make other players better. Millar comes to mind. Beckett makes other players worse because they see what he is doing and follow his lead. If we can get anything like value be getting rid of him we need to do it ASAP.

Put it into perspective though. Its one thing to skip a bullpen session, or practice, but a game is a game. Have you ever called out sick on a day when you were making a big presentation, or had an important meeting to go to? He only has to go out there one day a week, maybe two. If I had a job that only absolutely needed me once a week, in front of millions of fans, I would show up that one day a week.

After his last start, Beckett complained that "It's kind of been there for about a week, kind of leading into my last start," Beckett said. "On your start day, you can always make yourself believe that things are better than they are. I really wanted to pitch. I just ended up making things worse."

So, he's hurting the week before, and he skips his start because of the soreness... and goes out and does an activity that could potentially make it worse?

Let's put it this way: could you imagine an NFL quarterback doing this and getting away with it for half a second? I can't.

I'm not a reactionary guy, but with the team s***ing the bed, Beckett being the "experienced" Ace, September, etc., he shouldn't do anything to risk perception of his effort or dedication. It would be one thing if he was making his starts, but skipping a start should come with ZERO drama related to anything else.

Anyone going to the game tonight should bring in a bunch of golfballs and chuck them at Beckett

What I find noteworthy is the brazenness of him playing golf, in Boston, in full view of anyone with a camera.

It just goes to show that he couldn't care less about the ball club, the fans, his teammates, and the general public perception of him. I always thought he was an arrogant *******, but he was our ace, so you overlook those things.

Now that he's intentionally taking a knee, coming off the September collapse, I'm just mystified at how someone can disrespect the Boston Red Sox like he's been doing.

This season is already a lost cause, you'd have to be a big time homer with blinders on to think we'll be winning anything come October.

I say ship him out. Trade him to an NL contender for pitching prospects. Or package him and prospects for an established younger pitcher like Johnny Cueto.

Or send him back to Texas, where he belongs. Beckett for Colby Lewis. Eat some of the contract, and get him the f*ck outta here.

I really hope fans let him hear it.

"ASS-HOLE!....ASS-HOLE...." could be a good one.

You may not think so, but you are more reactionary than me in some ways. I am not one that cares about perceptions. That stems from the fact that most players are spoiled little entitled children. That's how they are developed. Organizational perceptions are of course important to the business, but that is crafted at the highest levels. I expect almost nothing from players in this regard. What gets me is the fact that he is so stupid that he didn't realize that the golf swing is not a good thing for a strained lat. Jacko brought this up. Not only wouldn't it be theraputic, but it would aggravate the situation. It shows me that he doesn't give a shitwhether or when he gets back on the mound. f*** him.

I agree a700, and was really trying to say the same thing. It kills me that Darnell had to finish a baseball game for the team. They just lost series to Oakland, Baltimore, and KC. It would be hard to do worse than that.

Another overblown story.

Just like beer and chicken. They interviewed Cody Ross the other day on WEEI and he was saying "That's present in every clubhouse".

People are just pissed off about September, and rightfully so, but they're taking out every bit of anger on Beckett. The whole beer and chicken thing is just something for people to pile on.

And the same thing is happening with this. Who freaking cares if he went out and played golf. Yes, it probably wasn't the best thing he could have done, but who cares. Maybe he was feeling a bit better and thought he may be able to stretch it out a little. Maybe he was playing in a scramble and only chipped and putted. Nobody knows this s***.

And ya know what the worst part is?? How many of you have ever called out of work "sick" and gone and done something you wanted to do (i.e. golf, just relaxed, whatever), but regardless, you weren't sick. By no means am I justifying that or saying that it's any less reason to be pissed, in fact, if he did fake the injury, there would be indescribably more reason to be pissed at him, BUT...

Don't be a hypocrite. Everyone has done it. Yes it's ********. Yes it's ridiculous. Yes I'd be pissed too. But nobody can say a word because everyone has done the exact same thing. And don't say "But he's making all this money" because it's the principle, and if someone who was making less than you was judging you for this, you would say the exact same thing.

I agree. This is a media creation. This whole thing. They have a chance to make a mint selling papers by being negative about the Sox, which is their traditional default setting anyway, and they're making hay. That's about all this is.

It was a metaphor for a couple of years of conditioning problems the Globe suggested at times, but never really got into until the September collapse. I'm still waiting for them to get off the players' backs and point some fingers at management for some bad decisions. It's still happening, because I don't see any real change in this team. Tito + Theo = V + Ben. Henry hasn't fixed anything. Actually, he made things worse by turning off the money.

How is Beckett going out golfing two days before not being able to pitch a "media creation"?

To me, it's a "Beckett creation".

How is Beckett refusing to pitch in relief three days after playing 18 holes of golf a "media creation"?

This is Beckett being Beckett, no more no less....

Ship this fat slob outta here!
