Are you genetically bred to piss people off or did you just work really damn hard at it? You're going way overboard.

OMG! And you call me sensitive! After all the insults you have hurled at me throughout the years, you must be joking. I was just trying to say lighten up. You've called me thib skinned many times throughout the years and worse, and I never reported any of it to the mods. Can you say the same?

You haven't reported any of it? How about the multiple times in the past you've accused me of violating the TOS out in the open. That doesn't count as reporting to you? Not only is it reporting me as the mods will surely see your public complaint, but it's being broadcast, which kind of ups the stakes, IMO.

I'm only following the lead you established back then, when you implored people to stop with the personal stuff. I haven't gotten personal with you or insulted you today, but my patience is wearing thin. Was your request many months ago legitimate?

When I organize the fight between a700 and ORS at Madison Square Garden the entrance fee will be $100. If I like you as a poster, you get in free. I can see it now. a700 "Clint Eastwood" vs ORS "The bad ass Marine". I'd be an epic fight. Get ya popcorn ready.

At least I accused you out in the open and not behind your back.

I'm going on Tuesday to watch my baseball team play. I'll be really close to the field. Also going to the Giants game. Of course I got my Red Sox tickets on my birthday. I go every year to Marlins game.

How about we go back to the issue at hand which I think is Bard as a starter. I hope it works out; I'm not saying it will though. I have grave misgivings about Bard in the rotation. My take is that someone in the front office did not think he was cut out to be a closer because it seemed like he was never considered for it. This is one move that has to work or the ripple effect will be seen throughout the pitching staff as well as in the rotation. I will say this, though. If he and Doubrant become our version of Colon and Garcia it will not only signal that some luck is finally coming our way again, it will signal that we go from a mediocre rotation to possibly a very good one.

Bard was the one who pined for the starter's job. He told the FO he wanted to start as soon as the season ended.

Bard was talking about starting during an interview on D&C I believe last ST (meaning, ST of 2011)

There's still a lot of fluidity in the rotation. The closer and the 4th and 5th starters a month from now might be surprising. I think you also want to watch Buchholz. He has to pony up.

Lannan wants out of Washington.

Anyone else as interested as I am? Lannan isn't great, but he'd be a decent #4 starter, I wonder what they'd want. If they do decide to move Bard to the closer's role, picking up Lannan would be the right follow up move.

Riskier' date=' or less risky, than taking a flier on a guy who has never succeeded as a professional starter?[/quote']

Impossible question to answer.

Cafardo tonite says Bard should be the closer.

http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2012/04/05/daniel_bard_would_have_been_better_choice_as_red_sox_closer/?page=2

He says Bard should have been the logical choice when Pap left, but Bard wanted to start.

Now we know that Nick is tight with Bobby V --and may well be his mouthpiece at the Globe.

He implies that Bobby wanted Bard as closer from the getgo.

Seems that Bobby and the FO have some disagreements on personnel--and so far the FO is having their way. This does not bode well for the Red Sox.

If Cafardo is Bobby V's mouthpiece Bard will probably be on a short leash as a starter.

I have a feeling that Bard may be in the pen sooner than most think. If Melancon continues to suck in key moments, then the sox will promote Cook to the rotation and they will put Bard in the closers role.

Depends. If he struggles significantly in April, then I think he's back in the BP by May, because that is Cooks option up deadline. If he looks promising and Doubront is struggling, I think he might stay in rotation a bit longer.

This is what I think happens. I'd prefer the stay the course on the starter project and make a move.

That's a reasonable and well thought out idea. I think they should hire you to give Cherington some advice. They should make a move. And I think they will, eventually. And this is not sarcastic at all. I think you are the first person on here to propose making a move for the pen that doesnt involve moving Bard back to the pen.
