I have to admit I'm getting a sick laugh out of this. The players ran Tito out of town, and now they see that the grass isn't greener....Woops.

I'm sure more than a few other people took a look at the scoreboard last night and began to wonder as well....and notice I said some* of the players, not all....

I agree. However, they loved Tito and tanked last year!?

Did they " love" tito last year? I didn't see the players begging for his return or great sorrow that he was gone or a huge hug fest when he was at Jet Blue and went out to say hello to team members.

You won't see begging in MLB. However he was well-liked and was easy to play for which probably led to his downfall.

He might have been well liked since he was so easy to play for , so what caused the down turn? THAT has been discussed and debated.

I love Youkilis and Pedroia, but they should really shut up. I don't care how the team "does things around here" because that way of doing things has gotten them back-to-back third place finishes. Bobby Valentine's their boss and he was brought in for a reason. When the players were left to police themselves they were drinking and playing video games in the clubhouse during games.
Posted
So that gives him the right to question a player's desire in public? The one who needs to shut up is Valentine, a point he acknowledged himself by apologizing.

Good point, bending to the will of the players and covering for them when they aren't prepared to do their job has worked out so well for us...
Posted

How was Youkilis not prepared to do his job? This seems like a lot of reaching.

Valentine admitted that he misinterpreted a question and gave an inappropriate answer. We are talking about the person who actually made the remark.

Your conclusion makes no sense.

This right here' date=' folks. No logic or reason necessary.[/quote']

Logic or reason aren't the strong suits of a significant percentage of this team's fanbase unfortunately.

Bobby Valentine's not an idiot, he made the remark for a reason. Need I quote Al Leiter's remarks about how he didn't like playing for Valentine, but he always prepared for his starts when he did? You may not like his style but it serves a purpose.

And frankly, if these million dollar babies can't handle their boss calling them out when they don't do their jobs they can find a new team to play for.

Let me put it this way: He is a brilliant in-game tactician, and a better overall manager than Tito, and i'm honestly glad he's here instead of Francona, because things needed to change.

However, his media management is awful. Sometimes, for the good of the team, he needs to keep his big mouth shut.

Comments like that serve absolutely no purpose, and no amount of rationalizing can prove otherwise.

Someone who's actually played for him said otherwise. I suppose we should trust you instead and just keep trying to blindly rationalize our players acting like babies.

In Youkilis' case, this makes absolutely no sense, which is exactly the point.

Also, easy to call the players million dollar babies from the comfort of your couch.

Just throwing that out there.

Do you want me to dig up a bunch of stuff on players who hated him? Also, have you read anything i've posted?

There's no point in arguing with you while you firmly hang on to Valentine's shaft and tell yourself "V can do no wrong".

He f***s up, just like the players do. Live with it.

Good point, Youkilis hitting .176 is totally what the team is paying him for.

Funny how when Youkilis calls out Ellsbury in the media no one cares. But when Bobby Valentine calls out Youkilis in the media, "it's now how we do things around here".

Posted

Yeah, how he's hitting is totally an indicator of his dedication for the team. Poor logic is going to die if you keep stabbing it so hard.

By the way, Youkilis calling out Ellsbury is exactly one of the instances of players f***ing up that i mentioned earlier. Also, you don't know the judgement regarding that situation from members of this site.

Stop making stuff up please.

Straw man. Bobby Valentine can and does do wrong. I think he's been flat out bad at managing the pitching staff this year.

I have to go back to work now. I think I'll spend the afternoon drinking beer and playing video games and if my boss says anything I'll tell them "that's not how we do things around here" and then demand to know who the snitch is that told them.

That's how jobs work, right?

No issue with that...most fans are blindly devoted

I'm actually getting a kick out of Youk getting a dose of his own medicine...

Youk went out of his way to bash Ellsbury's commitment when he was hurting....now Youk is on the receiving end...maybe within the framework of clubhouse protocol, BV was serving up a little payback...

That's an exaggeration, not a strawman.

A strawman is you creating an imaginary position for me regarding Youkilis' comments. Just fyi.

If your boss fires you, it's going to be because of your refusal to accept or understand logic.
