I've been going to Ft. Myers every year since 2004. I'm looking forward to the new ballpark in 2012.

Pretty damn impressive 700. I went in 2006 and 2007 and had a blast. The only problem was who I was watching. I could only get tickets for real late in ST and by that time the prospects were back in the minor league camp, the regulars would play only three innings and I'd be seeing guys with names of Baroviak, Masters, Dingley and guys I knew I would never see in Fenway Park. Besides, living in California the trips there were expensive and I didn't need to get warm since I live in a warm climate. I thought if I saved my money I could make an extra trip to Fenway through Red Sox Destinations.

Since you live behind enemy lines can I take it that you live around New YorkCity? Are you also going back to Fort Myers next March? Sounds that way.

I live on Long Island and work in NYC. I was raised in Brooklyn, and my dad and uncles were all Brooklyn Dodger fans. I will be going to Ft. Myers in March (17-24). You mentioned the Red Sox Destinations trips. i took one of their trips-- when Jim Rice got inducted into Cooperstown. They do a very good job.

People were not comparing posters to unknown posters on other sites or dividing the posters here into groups like the sugar coaters and the realists. That's clique s*** and reduces the quality of discussion here. I find that most of the new posters here have come in as reactionary and with a residual chip on their shoulder from the spats on the other boards. Time to let it drop.

Can't disagree with that.

He's a baseball fan. DO NOT tell me he is a Red Sox fan. I know he's your buddy but don't cover up for him. You're going to look like a fool if you do.

I will also tell you that Fred is a passionate Red Sox fan. I know: I have met him and spoken to him many times by phone. It is YOU who looks like a fool if you continue to claim otherwise.

Do you know Fred personally? If not, I think you ought to consider that many of us know him a hell of a lot better than you do.

Posted
Yeah cause he's a bandwagon fan. You probably met him at a time where the Sox were doing really good. He's not a fan and I'll deny it every damn time you tell me. I've seen his post and will not get respect from me with that I'm a fan ********. He's a bandwagon. He's not a fan for the last time. I don't care if you slept with the man. He's not a fan got it?

Son from your public prrofile you are only 17 and only a junior in high school. So you have a lot to learn. You are needlessly crude and abusive. Fred coached kids your age some of whom have signed professional contracts and I believe one has made the show. Since you don't respect your elders, you should at least respect someone who probably forgotton more about the game then you will ever learn. What you say has little weight. You respect is meaningless.

How about both of you get seabeachfred dick out your mouth and let him speak for himself. Notice how he hasn't denied anything either. I don't care how old he is. I respect a lot of my elders on this site. I hate people who aren't fans that claim to be "real fans".

You're one sick dude 305. Worse still you are both naive and gullible all to hell. A few assbites from an old Dodger board came here a few years ago and filled your head with a bunch of crap and you swallowed it hook line and sinker. That tells me more about you than the fact that you're nuts. You can keep denying it all you like and keep looking stupid or you can get with the program, and the fact that you keep denying it even in the face of people who know me telling you something totally different means you're even one of the duller tools in the shed.

I will tell you this for the last time. Those people who filled your empty and naive head with that trash were a dispirate bunch. Two of them are now good friends of mine, another is an acquaintance. Two more are like you, barren and bizarre. One happens to be a moron who I once flunked in my class back in the 70's because I caught him cheating, the other one was in jail on drug convictions on two occasions. Want to believe them? Go ahead. I also don't have to advertize my fandom with such imbecilic things as you put on the bottom of your thread. I give a person the benefit of the doubt that someone is a fan of a team until he proves otherwise. Now wise up and accept the fact; I would also be willing to wager that I take Red Sox loses harder than you do.

Your aim should be from here on in concerning this topic.....to be seen stand up, to be heard speak up, to be appreciated shut up!!!!! Now if you have anything more to say on this send me a private message. I'm here to talk about the Red Sox and you and I shouldn't be wasting every one else's time with this crap.

I don't really care if you think Fred is a "real fan" or not, but this kind of language is uncalled for on any civil board. If you want to post on public boards you should learn some common decency. Keep doing this and you will be reported to the mod here. Try disagreeing agreeably; it works a lot better than the kind of BS you have posted.

Oh I'm sorry. Allow me to say...

sounds about right. Offseason after a disappointing Red Sox season turns into a dick measuring contest on who is the more loyal fan. LOL' date=' child, pipe down, nobody gives a s*** right now.[/quote']

You cared enough to respond. I'll drop it now unless of course someone wants to add fuel to the fire.

Lets carry on discussion

JD Drew sucks. That's pretty much where we left off.

I can't believe I just read "respect your elders." WTF? It's the internet. Get over it.

Some of these new posters really need to tone it down. This isn't the UN, it's a messageboard.

That's the problem with the internet. There is no excuse for bad behavior. I guess when you are young and irresponsible you are young and irresponsibile.

If you want your opinions respected then behave respectfully otherwise it is unintelligible gibberish.

I think some people just need to not take everything as a personal slight. I know some of the older posters grew up around US Grant and probably had many duels in their time. Just let me quote Eckersly "that's history pal."

I don't think RFFL stepped over any line. If you don't like something, you are better off ignoring it. We don't carry duelling pistols anymore. We deck someone and hug it out.

Funny how the Drew thread has generated so much "heat". Drew himself seems to stay at about the same temperature day in and day out, but he surely does draw out a lotta' "heavy weather" from the audience.

My thought exactly! Drew could care less what anyone thought.

Drew discussions always generate heat like this. He's the perfect player for divisive interpretations.

I always wanted to see Drew's name in the lineup. When he was out of the lineup for some minor issue I would be as frustrated as anybody. And when he got into one of his cold spells he could be pretty frustrating as well. When he was hitting well he was a pleasure to watch. One thing I'm not convinced of is that he could have been a much better hitter if he tried. I think it's quite possible he was getting the max out of his ability. Major league pitching has sent many guys with sweet swings into other lines of work.

I think you miss the point. The problem with the internet is that posts live forever. Because there is the appearrance of anonymity people believe they can post anything. They post things they would never say in person, polite company or in print. I know of several instances where someone from their home computer posted something on a message board that was similar in nature to what the young man posted above. To make a long story short his employer found out and found that anonymous post embarassing. The poster was discharged. I tell all my employees be careful what one posts online.

While I may ignore something and may or may not respond, you have no idea who reads this stuff and it lives forever.

I know you think we are older then dirt, and sometimes I feel as though I am, but you have no idea to whom you are talking and it never hurts to be nice and civil. It doesn't cost anything to do so. That's not to say one can't disagree but there is no need to be crude when doing so.

Interesting point! I began to think that his tendency to look for the walk hurt him in the end. He seemed to lose the strike zone and umpires no longer gave him the close pitch. He appeared that he forgot how to hit.

No question, the ability to draw the walk was a big part of his game and when he wasn't getting the borderline calls it really hurt him.

Wonder why he was no longer getting the borderline call? Is there a metric for that?:D

Drew's OBPxDSIER/NOTUPG(On base percentage multiplied by days spent in emergency rooms divided by number of tampons used per game) was consistently in the top 5 of right fielder's from 2007-2011.

He will be missed.

Well, if you're a conspiracy theorist, runs scored in the AL had a fairly precipitous drop in the year 2010, from averages of about 9.6 per game in 2008-2009 to about 8.9 in 2010-2011. One of the theories advanced to explain it has been a slight expansion of the strike zone. And yes, J. D. was one of the guys who verbalized that theory.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:Fantastic. Bill James is publishing an addendum as we speak!!:D:D

Ya' know that strike zone thing is interesting because we have had both arguments advanced in the same year....some folks have claimed it has been narrowing and others saying that it has been widening.

Maybe what is really happening is that the umps are reverting to their old ways again and we are seeing more disparity from one up to the next as opposed to a real trend one way or the other.

Elkton, I agree 100%. people should be aware of what they post. However, my point is that certain people shouldn't take everything so personally. It seems like SBF has had problems on numerous boards. If he didn't take everything to heart, maybe the drama would go away.

If you are on the internet you will be ragged on. It's just life. We spend enough time posting on here that we tend to be less formal and more like a bunch of friends hanging out.

Just don't get worked up over a post. It's not worth the effort.

If Drew didn't look like a good player, Beane and Depodesta would have been all over him.

He had the saber stats, but he wasn't fat and slow. So he had Boras as his agent. That ended that.
