If they got Bedard for Federowicz I'd go nuts. THere's gotta be another piece involved.

Meh. Fed is the best defensive catcher in the system. Probably a good move for Fed to go to a team that could use him.

Edes is saying just Federowicz.

Awesome deal for the Red Sox. Federowicz was no more than a backup catcher here.

Hmm. Fed and Lin? It would play to the Mariners' defense-at-all-costs mantra.

Why should they have to give up more than Fed? They shouldn't move Lin and Fed for a short period of a guy who costs more and is coming off an injury. Fed and random reliever, maybe

And what is Bedard? A short-season, injury prone pitcher who may or may not be interested in pitching in Boston... yay.

Bedard > Miller, Wakefield, and Weiland, and possibly even Lackey

If they backed the M's down to just Fed they did a great job IMHO. Not talking Fed down, but even if he is damaged goods, Bedard's still a power lefty and that's a pricey commodity.

Does anyone else get the feeling that the Yankees approach the trade deadline with only 5 tradeable players? It seems like they could have had Bedard without too much difficulty (if Fed is all it took) yet all we hear about is f***ing Montero and the other high ceiling prospects.

What is Bedard? A power lefty, and even with all those points against him, those tend to be pure gold on the trade market.

He may not want to pitch here because he struggled in his first start off the DL. Sometimes you guys really do let your imagination run away with you.

Well I'm glad they did something, but I'm certainly not sold on Bedard. He was awesome until going on the DL in June, and was terrible in his first start back. Though if he's healthy, he's at least better than Miller.

I agree. Just like with the rumor last night with the A's, all of a sudden Bedard will get a lot of love. I think it will help a little, but it's still just a meh trade. Glad that we did not give up a lot.

It's just a matter of wanting a trade so badly, even an ok trade makes everyone happy.

Yankees were really only after Bell, Adams and Ubaldo. They asked about Wandy but they wouldn't pay much. I guess Cashman didn't see the need to go after bench players.

I hope so. I actually think that Miller gets too much s***. If he were pitching for another team right now people on this board would be saying "why didn't the Sox trade for Miller?"
