I think it is a decent acquisition at best. The best part about it is it didn't cost us that much, (depending on who the PTBNL might be). It was not too long ago that most on this board were hoping and praying that we did not get Harden, and now that he is ours, all of a sudden its a great trade for someone who is going to dominate.

I think getting back with Young will be beneficial to him, and I am hoping for the best with him.

I am not trying to knock anyone. It's a decent trade for us and we seem to only lose a player who had no future with the Red Sox anyways.

Can't disagree with you there. Just unsure why the Yankees wouldn't have been in on someone like Harden.

Are the Yankees too top loaded with talent, such that other teams only ask for their very best prospects because they have a few of them?

Like I noted yesterday, Lavarnway and Middlebrooks were probably the 3rd best picks in their respective classes (BOSTON classes, mind you) but they both look a lot better without Rizzo and Kelly, Hagadone and Westmoreland around.

Mostly I just feel a lot better going into a NYY series with the pitchers you listed than I did a few years ago when they had pitchers like Mussina, Pettitte, etc.,

What the hell happened to Hagadone?

Um. The Sox have had a streak of 4+ consecutive losses just 3 times. The 0-6 start, and then two times they had a 4 game losing streak.

Hardly a "streaky team"

And FWIW, the Sox have had 6 streaks of 4+ consecutive wins.

As long as they have 2X the amount of win streaks as they have losing streaks, I don't think there's anything to be worried about.

Don't bother. Your argument is full of far too many stats and not enough emotions for him to understand.

Harden is one of the best strikeout pitchers in the MLB. Over the past 4 years, he's got a 10.0 K/9. That's pretty solid. I think he can be a big piece in this puzzle.

Regardless, he's better than Miller and Wakefield.

My guess is Harden starts on August 3rd on an extra days rest (he's not bumping Beckett) and the regular scheduled starter Wakefield gets pushed back taking Miller's spot in the rotation.

Miller will likely get one more start tomorrow.

No argue whatsoever with you on that. I think if he stays healthy, then it could be a nice pick up. Do not get me wrong in what I wrote. I like the trade. I just think some people are over reacting after acting like he was a nothing earlier in this thread.

Jayson Stark reports that the Reds were offering Homer Bailey' date=' Mike Leake and two position prospects. for Jimenez[/quote']

Wow. Two actual MLB starters and two other position prospects is a pretty decent haul. Guess they'd rather roll the dice and hope the prospects pan out.

is August 3rd the 4th game of the series for cle/bos? Because if it is Jimenez will start on that day if he gets traded to the tribe

Popcorn will be ready.

Sox need to see how well Millers stuff plays out of the bullpen. If he can get his 92-93 mph fastball up to 96-97 in spurts out of the bullpen, he could be incredibly valuable.

No, it's the 3rd game of the series. Assuming the Guardians get Ubaldo, it will likely be Lester pitching against him.

Poor Ubaldo gonna lose his first Cleveland start.

What a pitching matchup

I have wanted Dick Harden for a long time.

Okay, that's the last time I will do that, I swear.

I have tickets to the game on the 3rd, I hope I get to see him.

As far as I can know, Quentin, Thornton, Reed Johnson and Spilborghs are the players we're still connected to. I believe a rumor ruled out Crisp this afternoon.

My guess is Reddick being part of the deal for Quentin if it happened and I forget where I saw this but someone suggested holding on to Drew as a late inning defensive replacement for him.

From what I hear, the ChiSox aren't moving Thornton or Quentin.

The white sox will move quentin at the deadline or in the offseason. They have Viciedo in the minors

where is Bedard now in all this? He had some pretty good specs this year before his leg injury.

I would get him, too. Better than what they have in the back of the rotation. Harden replaces Buchholz.
