My guess would be someone like Kyle Weiland' date=' a guy who profiles as a back of the rotation pitcher without much future in Boston.[/quote']

I'd be shocked if the Sox dealt Weiland for Harden. A's need bats, not arms.

RT @jtomase: According to colleague Scott Lauber' date=' Red Sox are nearing a deal for Rich Harden that will involve minor league 1B Lars Anderson[/quote']

That would make sense. Anderson's red hot right now, scouts probably came away impressed.

I suspect an Alex Wilson or Drake Britton level player.

That is much more reasonable. The Red Sox giving up Weiland is wishful Yankees fan thinking.

I think too many people are putting WAY too much emphisis on recent performance here. Anderson's strengths and defecits are well known throughout the league. Recent performance won't make the A's overvalue him or the Sox undervalue him.

I like Anderson to the A's. I've always liked Lars and hope that he can do well there.

Twitter says Anderson and PTBNL. If Jacko is right that will undoubtedly be Weiland or Ranaudo.

As long as he's not upset enough to go troll in the Red Sox game thread.

I like dealing Anderson for pitching, but I am not sure about Harden...at all. He was once one of the most promising young pitchers in baseball, but he probably threw too many pitches when he was 22 years old.

But he is worth the risk for Anderson.

That's an outrageously solid return for Lars Anderson right there.

EDIT: Maybe the Sox can give the PTBNL from they got from trading McKenry to the Pirates over to the A's. :dunno:

Yeah. They're very' date=' for lack of a better word, mixed.[/quote']

His hit rates are 5.2% lower than they should be and his home run rates are 54% higher than they should be. Even it all out and he'd have an ERA around 3.50. Of course that's in Oakland so it's probably more like a 3.80 in Fenway.

8:42pm: The Padres aren't close to completing a deal that would send Ludwick to Cleveland, according to Dan Hayes of the North County Times (on Twitter).

Small sample size of 30 innings but his BABIP is lower than his career mark by about 20 points, HR/FB is up by 5%, HR/9 is up to 1.84 instead of his normal .97, BB/9 is down by 1, GB% is down, and LOB % is up. I hope he reverts to the norm and gives us some of that career 3.65 ERA, that and he can stay on the mound longer than a week at a time.

Would be funny to see Hagadome go there due to Hoyer being the GM.
