You're not going anywhere anyways.

If you mean this year I agree with you but if you mean the next few years I disagree strongly

My guess is he's referring to the next decade or so, the Guardians do play in Cleveland afterall. :D

And I agree with Suns. Their rebuild is going pretty well, and they're fairly close, especially if Carmona can tie it back down and be a big league pitcher next year.

I'm proud to say that this humble little thread, started on a whim a few short weeks ago, is now the 5th most replied-to thread in Talksox history with 1500+ replies. Who should I thank for this? Let me unfold my list here...

Seriously though, for a relatively unexciting trade deadline there has been a lot of activity on this thread. Ubaldo Jimenez isn't THAT exciting, but this team is. Now, with another 3000 posts we can compete with the 2010-2011 offseason thread.

Not someone you wanna count on though. He's been pretty awful since he had that injury a couple years back. You never wanna jump the gun and deal your top prospects prematurely though.

True. But if the Guardians can get their hands on an actual 1B they might be dangerous next year with or without Carmona.

Would they jump into the Pujols/Fielder sweepstakes? Do they have that kind of money?

But Buch always had ace potential' date=' I always said no to any deal he was rumored to be a part of. Nova's just a tail end starter.[/quote']

I understand, but the question was asked why does NY value him so much. I think it is feasible that someone in the organization has seen something in him that they value.

While you may have never wanted to trade Buch, there were plenty of fans calling for Theo to package him with someone like Ellsbury to bring back a splashy name trade on a lot of boards.

I understand that but no one has hyped up Nova as anything more than a meh starter, Buchholz was a top tier guy. If you can drop Nova for Jimenez, you do it without even considering it.

The Yankees really have a lot of missed opportunities since CC when it came to acquiring another front end starter. This is beginning to look like another one.

Not if your team is so pitching strapped that it has Colon and Garcia starting regularly. They may not be able to afford to send Nova for Jimenez, even if they think he's worth parting with. Tough situation for the Yankees.

That's true. I'm just saying that it seems like they're making Nova out to be a top end of the rotation guy when he isn't.

They've been running cheap for years. If they thought it could propel them right into contention, and the attendance and media ratings that go with it, they might.

Guardians payroll per Cot's

2011: $ 49,426,567

2010: $ 61,453,967

2009: $ 81,579,166

So yeah. They have a lot of money and they might go nuts. It's the sort of thing a midmarket does to springboard into relevance.

Tomorrow when I wake up and sign on talksox I want to see a thread that says "Ubaldo Jimenez traded to Boston". Theo make it happen.

Unless you plan on waking up at 4:30pm, I wouldn't plan on it.

It's something to consider. They have a pretty damn good team in the making already, they add one of those two, they could be winning that division for a while.

I personally think that we should get Coco Crisp' date=' Kyle Farnsworth, and Jonny Gomes and start fights with the rest of the AL East.[/quote']

This.

It seems that Kuroda has told the Dodgers he plans on staying there for the rest of the season. Does this mean that Theo is going to go all out for Jimenez now?

Kuroda told the Dodgers he won't waive his NT clause.

Kuroda told the Dodgers he intends to stay with them for the remainder of the season, according to Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times (on Twitter). The Dodgers have confirmed Kuroda's intention (on Twitter).

Is it possible that Aviles is being spun?

Or... I know you can't trade Lowrie because he's on the DL, but could he be a PTBNL?
