I think it can play okay for a #2 guy, but it seems like an overpay for an upgrade in that department.

 

I'm a big proponent of teams making upgrades (and paying for them) based on where their team is currently. I don't think CLE is as good as their record indicates and I think if they ARE a decent team they should be next year and the year after. That's a place where a well-placed FA signing probably would have served them well, not selling their farm for an arm.

 

Of course, there is a LOT to be said for "splash value" and this will undoubtedly grab the Guardians some press for the next week or so in Cleveland. That's worth something too.

But anyone who thinks Freddy Garcia (4.12 xFIP), Burnett (5.95 ERA post-ASG last year and 4.83 ERA post-ASG this year) and Phil Hughes (no explanation needed) are better than anyone else's 3, 4 and 5 starters needs to put their pom poms back in their closet.

I don't see what you're feeling so high and f***ing mighty about right now. Outside of CC, you have nothing. AJ is worse than Lackey and the only reason he's around is because of his contract, Bartlolo had ass fat and stem cells injected into his f***ing elbow and WILL break down, Garcia looks great against the f***ing As and Mariners but gets rocked by teams that can actually hit, Nova has barely been around for a f***ing cup of coffee in the bigs and you have the balls to compare him to Clay, and Phil "Deadarm" Hughes can't get even get through an inning without using 30 pitches.

 

And for what it's worth, I'll bet anything Betances and Banuelos aren't even as good as you and the media are hyping them out to be. Until they even DO anything worth mentioning, please stop mentioning them every other f***ing post.

 

Oh, and CC has an opt-out clause this year, so there's no guarantee he'll even be with you guys after the season. If I were him, I'd leave the team with the overpaid 3B, 1B that doesn't believe in BA, and SS whose only claim to fame was being on a box of f***ing Wheaties. Come to a winner CC.
