Pretty disappointing to see the poor Mariners' offense scoring this many runs against the Yankees.

EDIT: That was a soft run, but it's pretty clear that for the second outing in a row Javy doesn't have his best stuff. The Yankees' pitching has consistently picked up the inconsistent offense, but if guys like Hughes and Vazquez struggle, they could be in trouble.

If you are disappointed by anything that happens when Javier Vazquez pitches against an AL team, then you have unfair expectations.

Yay yankees! I have a strong amount of hatred towards you but i like you ONLY when you lose. So keep those losses coming and let the Beasts(red soxs) do it's job and win. 1st place will be ours soon so enjoy will it last. :harhar:

The Mariners don't exactly have a typical AL lineup.

Bases loaded, not outs, ARod, Cano and Posada up and we dont score. That was the game right there. Also, Girardi likes to try guys for multiple innings when they arent accustomed to it. Robertson hadnt done it this yr, has a good inning #1 then gets whalloped in inning #2. He had 2 f***ing long men in the pen, getting more than 1 inning out of Robertson wasnt necessary

it looks like the yankees are suffering form the same problem as the red sox - middle relief. here's their bullpen outside of rivera

chamberlain- 35 games 5.40 era

marte- 28 games 4.60 era

robertson- 28 games 6.15 era

gaudin- 21 games 6.95 era

park- 21 games 6.66 era

moseley- 0 relief appearances

i wouldn't be at all surprised if the yankees and red sox are competing for the same bullpen arms at the deadline

I don't have the numbers, and I'm not even sure they exist, but no one on this team can hit a changeup. It's the reason why I didn't think they would hit Cecil yesterday, and why I don't think they'll hit Romero today. Two runs is all the Jays are going to need.

there is a stat for that, although i'm not sure how reliable it is. fangraphs has a win value for each pitch type that a team sees and they rank the yankees as the 7th best changeup hitting team in mlb. as for the yankees hitting with risp, they hit .266/.368/.452 with risp compared to .270/.354/.432 overall

That really surprises me, but I trust the numbers over my subjective eyes. I stand corrected.

there's a break for the yankees. a weak grounder on a check swing that went right back to the pitcher and it went right under romero's glove for the go ahead run

Agreed. Hell of a play by A-Gon though.
