Dear Joe Girardi,

CC Sabathia is an awesome workhorse. But, when up by 5 in the 8th, you can try to mix in some of your other relievers so they dont get rusty when you actually need them to be useful. Thanks

Nice win. CC didn't have his best stuff, but against a bad offensive team he was able to limit the damage, and still pitch deep in the game.

Also, Teixeira went 1/5 tonight, but hit a couple balls hard after have a number of good at-bats last night. I'm cautiously optimistic that he might be on the cusp of breaking out.

Sabathia gave up 11 hits and 2 walks and only allowed 3 runs? Wow, the Orioles suck. I'm beginning to think they might actually be as bad as their record suggests.

Tex will be fine, he gets off to a slow start every year. Last year he hit .200 in April with a .738 OPS and finished the year with a .292 AVG and a .948 OPS.

Absolutely. My point is that, the last two games, I've been encouraged by his ABs to the point of thinking that he is about to start really hitting. I never thought he wouldn't rebound.

However, for what it's worth, as bad as Teixeira looked in April last year, he has been much worse this year. It isn't solely in the numbers, but also his ABs. Tex put together plenty of good ABs last April, often just missing pitches because he timing was slightly off. It has been a different story this year, as it has just been bad AB after bad AB.

Once he hits in that joke of a stadium in New York some more, his numbers will look just fine.

The problem with Tex is his swing. He's a pure uppercut swinger from the left side. I really don't get it. if he would flatten his swing out a bit, he'd probably hit for 20 to 30 points higher.

Gom, that is how he has swung his entire life. That isnt changing. His problem recently has been that he is collapsing his back side and popping everything up. The past few games, he has been rectifying that and the balls have been hit with much more intensity. He'll break out soon enough

Listening to Robinson Cano talk after the game (in barely comprehensible english) about a new focus, I can't help but think back to Melky.

This is purely speculation, but I really do believe that the Yankees were dead set on getting rid of Melky this offseason for a variety of reasons.

The first of which is obviously that he was able to net them Javy Vazquez, but I think there were two big underlying reasons.

1. They wanted to free up a lineup spot so Brett Gardner, who the Yankees probably recognized as a superior player to Melky, could play everyday.

2. I really do think that they felt getting rid of Melky would allow Robbie to take that leap into the upper echelon of the league.

It has only been a month, and I obviously can't prove that his focus has improved without Melky on the team, but it certainly couldn't have hurt.

I just tuned in and am watching on MLB. The game is being announced in Spanish.

Commercials are in English. What a bargain.

3-0 Yankees.

Bad job by the runner at first there. It was clear from the start that it was going to be an out, albeit a long one, and it would have been an easy tag up for Izturis.

Now the game is in English!!!

Did you guys see the Tejada dribbler in front of the plate? I've seen some screwy stuff this year.

Posted
From what I could see it was a fair ball. I've never seen a ball crawl across the plate like that. It was like it stopped when it hit the ground and then started rolling.

Tejada hit that ball and styled at the plate' date=' like he hit it out. He didnt even reach the warning track[/quote']

Noticed this too, and, because of it, I thought it was gone.

ARod and Tex not hitting' date=' yankees still rolling. Cano is in another world right now[/quote']

Still a long way to go here, and we'll see how Mo pitches with all this rest.

That puts the Yankees at 3-4 over the last week. They're on fire!

5-4 on the road trip. No complaints there. Congrats on getting back to .500. Let's see if you can stay there.
