Just so everyone knows' date=' Javy Vazquez will pitch poorly tonight because he gave up a grand slam to Johnny Damon in 2004. He just can't handle the pressure![/quote']

Good call

Haha causation failure.

Anyway, tough night for him. He did some things well, but even when he wasn't giving up runs, he was scraping by without much of a fastball. That's not typically going to last.

And Price has been unusually efficient. 66 pitches through 6. I'd say this gave is over.

He came out throwing strikes early, and the Yankees' hitters seemed pretty quick to abandon any game plan of making him work.

Yup, just didn't have it tonight. I've always rooted for the guy, since he left, so I was really looking forward to his first game back here. Pretty disappointing. Hopefully he rebounds against the Angels.

That's a team he's much more likely to succeed against. Much less power, and some K prone hitters.

Agreed. The Rays aren't a great match-up for him. I've got tickets to a few games next week, one of them being his start.

I hope he fares better while you're there, then. But he better stay away from Matsui.

Haha, Javy will certainly be cursing that short porch a few times this year.

You don't wanna see him battle the Rangers @ Arlington either.

Haha, I certainly don't. He's got his next start against the Angels, and then he pitches out in Oakland, which should go well.

Lol Oakland. Lol McAfee stadium. That's quite possibly the perfect Javier Vasquez recipe for success.

lol yea, he was SO good to that point they just HAD to have him out of the bullpen

He doesn't suck.

But I do enjoy any night in which he invites the holy ghost of Johnny Damon to visit him

Vasquez sucks LOL. Have fun with him NYY.

I know right? This guy sucks soooo bad he posted a 2.87 ERA and had 238 strikeouts in 2009, What were the Yankees thinking? They should just send him down to the minors

Do you expect him to replicate those numbers in NY? Because if you do, i have some real estate here in Santo Domingo i have for sale.

He's not as bad as he showed last night, but those numbers he put up in the NL and Atlanta are irrelevant to what is going to be his production in the AL East.

It's not just that Teixeira is 0-17, but it's a completely deserved 0-17. He has maybe hit two balls hard all year, and that is with getting ahead in the count from time to time.

Yeah some drop off is to be expected, I see his ERA going from 2.87 to around 3.87, and his strikeouts will certainly go down, since about 30 of those are freebie's from other pitchers in the NL, and a lot of NL teams have 7, 8, 9 guys who are pretty terrible, along with AL East being the toughest division. Ether way he should be alright as a No. 4 guy

3.87 is very very generous. Try low 4's, close to 200 innings, close or a bit more than 200 strikeouts, I.E, his career norms, which is why you can't use his NL numbers to defend your "stance" when you got a whole body of work that indicates what should be a benchmark for his performance levels.

In short:

People who think he's going to keep getting hammered like last night are incorrect.

People who think he'll have a year resembling his 2009 are incorrect.

The answer lies in the middle.

Should have been interference.

I agree. I doubt that Gardner would have been thrown out, but Cervelli should have been out for getting in the way. Damn near injured Shoppach in the process. You'd expect a catcher (Cervelli) to know better.

All of Cervelli's actions are very exaggerated at the plate, especially on an inside fastball.

CC looks really sharp, and he finally had a fairly quick inning.
