Per mlbtraderumors.com' date=' NY will not be offering arbitration to any of their free agents[/quote']

Not good. I thought Damon was a lock. f***.

I didn't think Damon was a lock, but I agree with the sentiment of your post. If you offer Damon arbitration, lets look at the possible outcomes.

1. He accepts arbitration. You'll end up paying more money per year for his services than you would otherwise (probably anywhere up to five million more), but you only get him for one year, which would be an ideal scenario for the Yankees.

2. He declines arbitration, and signs with another team. The Yankees are compensated in terms of draft picks.

3. He declines arbitration, and re-signs with the Yankees.

If I were the Yankees, I offer him arbitration, because I would be OK with all three outcomes. I think it speaks to the fact that the Yankees are going to more money conscious this year. Unless I'm missing something, the only reason they're not offering him arbitration is over the fear that he receives up to a five million dollar raise. Seems very un-Yankee like...

The Yankees are interested in Brandon Lyon per mlbtraderumors.com. No s***, NY is interested in a late inning reliever? Actually, Lyon is probably the best option IMO since he is a Type B FA and wont cost a draft pick.

lol beat me too it. I agree I think Lyon would be a great option. Probably won't cost much either, and would save us a draft pick as opposed to the other top relievers on the market.

Anyone see or hear the interview he did with Dan Patrick this morning? Good stuff.

Didn't see the interview, but I just read Verducci's feature on him in SI. I liked the quotes about him from Schilling and Selig. As much as I hate the Yankees, I can't really bring myself to hate Jeter. The man has class.

The Yankees are interested in free agent hurlers John Lackey, Rich Harden, Joel Pineiro, and maybe Randy Wolf, according to Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports.

Please be Wolf LOL He will get eaten alive in the AL East IMO.

After signing NL garage like Carl Pavano and Jaret Wright, the Yankees have appeared to learn their lesson. For your sake, hopefully Theo has as well (Penny, Smoltz, Gagne, Clement)

Gagne was not signed, and he pitched well for the Rangers, Clement was really good until he got hit by that line drive, then he simply lost it.

For the way you run your mouth, your baseball knowledge is pretty limited.

Besides, who goes to the NL to look for garages?

He's just negotiating. I think he will get a higher salary than last yr and have bigger incentives, but the premise will be the same. Nobody is gonna pay him more than what NY will offer.

Joel Sherman tweets that the Yanks really want Granderson

Mark Feinsand from the Daily News tweets that no offer has been made to Pettitte (contrary to the report of him rejecting a 1 year, $10m offer) but the Yankees plan to make one by the end of the day supposedly worth more than $10m. As for the accuracy of these claims, who knows.

also I really hope there's something to this Bruney rumor. Get this clown out of town.

I actually like Bruney. He was hurt, but he has a live arm.

EDIT:

And the Bruney era is over. Traded to the Nationals.

If only he was healthy. I truly believe that his control issues were improving until he broke his foot. Ever since then, its been down hill. I still dont like dealing pen depth when you are likely to move Hughes into the rotation, but I have a feeling he is moving to open up for a FA acquisition
