What is up with the inactivity in the game threads these first two games?

 

We're all seasoned fans. there's a feel to a team that's going to go deep into the playoffs, and another feeling again to a team that isn't. I think we all know the difference in a not quite instinctual way. How you respond to that feeling is more or less based on how determined you are not to believe it.

 

Just IMHO.

 

I would love to eat these words for the remainder of the month of October, no one better.

Last night was pretty active, but tonight is a mix of Friday night and west coast, I'd guess.

You're probably right. We tend to have a core of fans here on this board that (thank god) lacks any pink hats, so I think we get the gist of it when we don't have it. To be honest, I've had no hope whatsoever since that early August embarrassment vs the Yankees. And twice again.

Overrated pitcher, and the "proven postseason" pitcher stuff is bunk. He's inconsistent. Regular season, playoffs, whatever.

Yeah, I don't think it's the roster per se. IMHO, this roster is as well constructed as you can reasonably expect.

 

These last two games are the sort people point to when they say the playoffs are a crapshoot.

 

In the end, the Angels are a good team. They had a better record than we did, and won their division. If they get past us, that's not a shame or a tragedy. It's just baseball, with us at the losing end. That happens a lot to teams that are by any reasonable measure the slightly worse of two teams in a series.

No, not quite, but the kind of sure thing that everyone thinks we need to acquire is more myth than reality.

 

Remember, in 2005 we got bumped out of the playoffs even WITH Manny and Ortiz at top form.

 

You can stack the odds in your favor, but the rolls still need to fall your way.

But, we're obviously not this bad. The Angels are pitching out of their heads. I'd feel semi-confident if we could come back after hopefully 2 wins at home, grabbing momentum, and have Beckett or Lester on the bump in game 5.
