I feel very confidant that the sox can take 2 at Fenway. DiceK has been a pretty darn good pitcher since coming of the DL. Buchholz had two rough starts' date=' but before that he was dominant for like 8 straight starts. I think if we win tonight, we take the series in 4 games. That being said, if we do lose tonight I see us losing in 4 or 5 games, but holding out hope that it could very well happen.[/quote']

the last three times that the angels have gone up 1-0 they lost the series.

How is CB Bucknor umpiring in playoffs? Seriously' date=' wasn't he already considered a terrible umpire before last nights game?[/quote']

That is exactly what I want to know. What are the qualifications to ump a playoff series? Obviously there's not a ton of umps that get to do it, so why wouldn't you go with your best? Makes no sense.

They feel bad for him because the cant discriminate against blind people.

This was actually pretty funny.

As for why he is umpiring in October, I have no idea. He's been around for a while, so maybe seniority plays a role. It's unfortunate.

They're chose by umpiring time IIRC.

I would rather have a younger umpire rather than an old geriatric f***.

They used to be. But then you got the exact same umps every post season. They used to do it on merit, but they ran into the same problem. So now, they do it on a rotation schedule and I think you need 5 yrs in to do it. If you do a division series, then you are in the running for the WS. If you are in an LCS, then you cannot. So, CB Bucknor will likely be umpiring in the WS, unfortunately

If there's 24 umpires in total in the LDS and 6 are needed in the WS, there's no reason to Bucknor to be there. Unless it's completely random, they need to make a conscious effort to keep him out of the WS.

Do you think it's going to be a pitching duel or slugfest tonight?

If you can take Beckett at face value and he truly isnt injured, then I say pitcher's duel. If he is lying, then slugfest. I bet Weaver struggles tonight and allows something like 3ER in 5IP or so.

Maybe CB Bucknor will be working in our favor tonight!

And he doesn't call THAT a strike? So glad he's here. Two bad calls in the first PA alone.
