that one run was huge. Umps + Girardi = yankee loss.

Come on. Really. The Yankees have what, 11 more games against the Sox this year? You'll be reveling in Yankee success (partially attributable to UMP calls) soon enough. Sox own the Yankees now, however.

The only similarity is that the Yankees got swept. You guys have a s*** bullpen' date=' and if thats not addressed you arnt going anywhere this year.[/quote']

What are you talking about? What in the world does that have to do with what I just said?

It's similar because the first game was a blowout, the second game was a tough loss, and in the third game (which was hailed as a regular season must win) the Yankees had the game and let it slip away. 2004 was very similar, just the other way around.

He dominated you guys for 7 innings' date=' took the ball in the 8th at around 110 pitches and ran out of gas.[/quote']

JFC SHUT THE f*** UP with your dominated

I'd have to agree.

I love comeback games, they're so fun. Sweep sweep sweep.

How is this a regular season must win for the Yankees? They are only 2 games out.

He pitched very well, clearly was out of gas (which I posted during Pedroia's ab), and shouldn't have been in at that point in the game. Except the Yanks have no pen, and Girardi is a moron. My only surprise was he didn't bring in Rivera for the last 6 outs.

So who does Smoltz replace? How can you justify taking Penny out of this rotation?

Yeah, that's what I want to know too. I mean, it's a nice problem to have and all, but it's still a problem.

It's not. Just like the one in 2004 wasn't for the Red Sox (even though they were much further out but there is the WC). There is no such thing as a must win in June. However, I'm saying it was hailed as a must win (which the NY media did).

I drove down the street to get some Taco Bell. My AM radio blows, and I lost reception on both 1080 WEEI and ESPN 1410 for all of the seventh and eighth innings. I ate my Taco Bell, drove back, and got reception just in time to hear Papelbon get Damon.

Just looked at Gamecast. Wild game, huh? Too bad for Penny, he worked around trouble but still allowed 0ER in 6IP, which I'll take over 4ER in 7IP any day.

w00t! 8-0

As much as I credit the Red Sox with the win, I'd like to thank Joe Girardi for his Dimaggio like streak of bad managing decisions. Thanks Joe, here's to hoping you manage the Yankees out of the playoffs... again!

This series sweep might shake up that team way more than them stealing the last of three on the way out of town.

What did you get at Taco Bell? Thanks for getting me hungry. My wife and kids are in bed, and it's even money that I'll be in the truck within 15 minutes making a border run now.

Hughes starting game 2 for us is a win and Mariano in the 8th tonight is a win. If Girardi managed by actually watching the game and caring about each game vs Boston, then we might have left town with 2 wins, instead of another sweep.

How many times a year do you think you can let Mo go two now?

Posted
That's a little absurd. Mo isn't automatic anymore, especially if he has to go more than 1 inning. Has Hughes ever been automatic?

Umps? Wow' date=' sore loser. Your team sucks, face it. $450 million and what does it get you... 0-8.[/quote']

Get used to it. That's how these guys roll.
