It still amazes me that the Rays have scored this many runs in 4 strait games' date=' are very comfortable at the plate.....and noone in the sox clubhouse has thought to buzz someone off the plate so they aren't so comfy.[/quote']

I said the same thing 2 innings ago....hell even that dumbass Chip mentioned it, but the Sox don't realize this?

I'll tell you this much' date=' this is a lot easier to swallow than 2003. Blowouts are easier to take.[/quote']

See? Now you guys understand why 2001 bothered us a lot more than 2004.

Oki has done a very good job keeping the game right where it's at. Now the offense has GOT to repay the favor and build some momentum.

Eh, I'd still be pretty pissed if I blew a 3 game lead. This isn't even a shot or jab at you, just saying, this isn't nearly as bad.

I don't buy that for a second....I lived in NYC 1999 to 2006 and I know well what the scene was in NY after 2004

Just the fact you are bringing it up and trying to downplay 2004 means it hurt pretty bad...you are still going on about it

Not really. 2003 took the edge off of it for us. Most Yankee fans believe we lost it more than you won it, me included. Not taking anything away from you guys, but Torre managed that into the ground, pitching Gordon, and starting Kevin Brown, etc.

It would have been different if we lost in the top of the 9th with a lead. I was already ok with it by the 7th inning. It took me 3 weeks to even look at the paper after 2001.

Then you didn't know the hardcore fans. Tonight, you won't be all that pissed. You ran into a buzzsaw. It happens.

I'm not saying that 2004 didn't bother us. It did. The real Yankee fans died a little in 2001. That's the difference.

You aren't a hardcore fan. Nothing stings more than a Yankees win or a Red Sox lose....you are trying to downplay the feeling of 2004 because it was the worst pain any Yankee fan ever felt (any real hardcore fan) and they still can't admit to it. They will crawl to the ends of the earth for any excuse or different moment to cover it up.

I was there and I saw the whole thing, 2001 and 2003 hurt but 2004 changed everything for the Yankees and the true hardcore fans knew it....it seems you are still catching up

Fair enough. You experienced, not me, and I was an outsider in 2001. In 2004, obviously, it was crazy, it was the best thing ever. Nothing will ever beat that.

I don't know what any of the buzz is up there, but where I am, it's the feeling that the Rays team isn't changing anything - they aren't getting worked up because they have to play you all, or trying to figure out how they're going to win... they're just going to play like they have been for the last several months. And open a can a whoopass.

Close games? I think so. Close series? Rays take it in 5.

Just quoting for posterity. w00t!

Not really. We never saw you guys as more than a nuisance. It is undeniable that the hardcore Sox fan hated the Yankees 100 times more than the other way around. Why? You never, ever, beat us.

So when you finally did, it was a novel experience. Also, you didn't win a close one, you won a laugher.

All my friends, the ones out in Section 39 agree. So I guess the famed Bleacher Creatures aren't hardcore, right?

Also, in 2004, you were what, 17 years old? How many hardcore fans did you really know?

I kinda felt the same way on February 3rd, 2008.

It is not losing as much as the way the Sox are just listless in doing so. This is really a disgrace. They are going down like mice. This team has some real problems going into next year.

I think the Sox should sign Derek Lowe for a rotation of Beckett/Lester/Dice/Lowe/Buchholz....and add a good BP arm. Tek needs to go. Trade Bowden for Teagarden....Try and trade Lowell...sign Teixiera and move Youkilis back to 3rd.

Ellsbury

Pedroia

Ortiz

Teixiera

Youkilis

Drew

Bay

Tegarden

Lowrie

Now that team could do some damage.

We never ever beat you.....and thats why it killed that city and the fans. Everything would change from that point on and being the NY Yankees would no longer be what it once was. The joy of always beating down the nuisance was over, it was time for the Red Sox to step in and it ripped that city a new one.

Down play it all you want and talk yourself up to be a supreme being when it comes to NY Yankee fans...that was the one that hurt the most, I know its tough and I'll never get you to admit it, no Yankee fan I've ever crossed has been able to admit it but they always refer to it after they tell you some other story of what hurt more (and its never the same).

Clearly, you are a fine example how you go out of your way to a Red Sox forum and provide very little in the way of intelligent conversation....but I'm sure thats not extreme hatred toward Red Sox fans, we deffinitly hate you 100 times more

Believe what your small mind tells you.

I tell you in terms of pain, 2001 was greater than 2004. 2004 was the third biggest hurt for me personally. If you don't want to believe me, it's your choice. There would be no reason to lie.

2001 was the worst

1995 was 2nd worst

2004 was a distant third

Maybe the reason why every Yankee fan you encounter that tells you it isn't the worst is because it wasn't. Are you that upset today? Why? Because you got the s*** kicked out of you. Which game in this series hurt the most? Could it be the 2nd game that you lost in extra innings? What is so difficult to understand?

This is not to say that it didn't hurt. Just not as much. 2001 hurt because...well, it still hurts. I'm not talking about it.

1995...still hurts...every time I see Griffey round third I want to throw up.

2004...hurts, but more anger at Torre than hurt. I wish he was fired when Damon hit the grandslam. Right there.

For all you old timers...which was worse? Bucky, Buckner, or Boone? All three were probably worse than anything I've ever felt [Thank God].

I can say...I didn't hate you before 2004. Now I do.
