  1. Horayy if true
  2. Not good news. I'm sick to my stomach they bought this loser back.
  3. No thank you.
  4. good finish to the first quarter.
  5. I am the only 1 who believes he is a cancer. But like Coco's disciples said.. (I very rarely agree with him) What if Wakefield was a 5th starter and wasn't allowed to pitch in the playoffs? Then i'm all for it. But if this guy is your 4th starter then he is a cancer cause he is a big time liability in a big spot.
  6. John Perrotto over at Baseball Prospectus has his weekly column up... let's take a look at what he has to say: Couple of notes about the Red Sox: Perrotto expects Theo Epstein to re-sign Jason Varitek to a two-year deal in the $16MM range. This seems like drastically overpaying for what Varitek has become, in my opinion, but as Perrotto points out, there's very little on the free agent market. Epstein will then look to trade for a young catcher who can become the starter in 2010 or 2011. Additionally, he'll try to move Mike Lowell to open up a spot for either Mark Teixeira or Garrett Atkins, but that won't be an easy task most likely. On a Manny-related note, Terry Francona said the last couple months of 2008 were the "most fun he's ever had" in Boston, calling them "tremendous." He didn't mention Manny specifically, but does he really have to?
  7. Look if they add a guy like Lowe or AJ. Wakefield as a 5th starters fine. And I agree he should never be allowed to be anything more then a long reliever in October. As long as another solid starter is added they can let Wakefield choke on it every 5th day for all i care.
  8. Then why is everyone excited that we are wasting a roster spot on him. This lineup is very very mediocre position players except tek are in tact. To stay a playoff team our best bet is to get starting pitching all over the place. Pitching and defense atones for lack of clout in a lineup.
  9. He is. He does nothing use full except bringing Cash into the lineup. The steals passed balls have gotten old. Now I know I flip flopped opinions if you dig up the game 4 thread you will see how I was happy to see him. Then reality sunk in, it's October and he just doesn't get it done in big spots. 2.2 ip? Have fun in the independent league Tim cause at age 43 your done.
  10. It's 2008-2009. Wakefield is a cancer to this team. Yes he is mr. May but come on now. This guy is the worst active post season pitcher in the game. 2003 he was lights out until that disaster with Boone. 2004 he was so so. 2005 he choked game 3 to the white sox twice. After Ortiz and douche got him the runs back. 2006 he just sucked. 2007/2008 good up until the summer but hit very hard in October. I get it guy has been a great member of this team but it's time to say goodbye give him his gold watch retirement gift and bring in either Lowe Burnett or Perez.
  11. We forgot that cause he ran himself out of town. Yes not all players give their blood to the team but can you not bitch about getting 20 mil a season? Can you run out a fly ball? Can you not throw punches at Youkilis? Can you defend Coco Crisp in a brawl like the 24 other guys on the team? Terry Francona is 1 of the nicest guys you'll ever meet and he can't stand him. Is Manny a great hitter? Yes? Would I rather have him or Curt Schilling? I'll take the winner.
  12. Nah can't give you a break when you have a Manny icon. That guy is a douche through and through. He offered to play for the Yankees bad mouths the team that made him a huge star and revenue whore. Yet Schilling gave his guts and kept his world. I'm going to looj for the article in where he said in the winter of 03-spring of 04 I look foward to pitching this team to a world series title or two. Manny was making coments last year about theres always next year. Jason Bay real baseball player Curt Schilling real baseball player... Manny a more clutch and bitchie A-rod
