  1. What is thy bidding, master... ...no homo.
  2. Amen to that. The Rays are finally going to make this matchup interesting and hopefully not just be stepping stone for the Yanks and Sox. Should be a great next few years of baseball. I think the Rays winning was good for baseball (as much as I'm sure Sox fans are pissed about).
  3. That article, while unfortunate, doesn't surprise me. With such an adolescent sports history here in Tampa, football is the daddy of them all. It just shows how far this town has to go before it becomes recognized as an all-around sports powerhouse (in regards to the fans). That, coupled with Tampa Bay being such a transitional area for people just means it's going to take longer for "us" to cling to more than one sport. It's unfortunate. I also can't understand who would want to go to the Bucs game over this game 7. I LOVE the Bucs and have been a HUGE fan for over a decade - all the memorabilia - personalized Bucs license plate, clothes, all the crap on my walls, etc, etc... but there was no way in hell I was missing this Rays game. I may have flipped to the Bucs game 5 times throughout the night (during commercials of course). They were playing freakin Seattle for crying out loud. And I, along with every other Buc fan, love Alstott, but who the hell cares about him making a 5 minute appearance. Geeez... I did hear that RayJay was nice enough to play the last 2 innings on the big screen at the stadium... and 'they' were saying that about 60% of the fans stayed behind to watch the outcome. Still... Game 7 was HISTORY for the Rays. History... how often can you say you were at/watched the Rays go to the World Series. I'm a realist, and this could be a once in a lifetime chance to see. Unreal... As far as the fanbase goes... it'll improve. I think of the Lightning and what happened when they went to the Stanley Cup. This town just got a fever for hockey, and while, of course, fans jump off the wagon, hockey has become one of those sports that becomes a norm to follow for many people now. Go Rays... Go Tampa.... Boston fans,Go Home!
  4. Just wanted to chime in and say I'm not even mad either.
  5. I can't see any Sox fan saying they'd rather have lost it in 5 than 7. Especially in the manner they did it. Them winning game 5 and 6 just shows how much of a baseball powerhouse they are and it made everyone watching who wasn't a Sox realize they can NEVER be comfortable with ANY lead (at any point in the game) against them. And dammit if they didn't piss me off to the fullest.
  6. Thanks for the entertainment folks. A rollercoaster of a series. I thought all the games this series would be closer to how tonight was played - close score, great pitching by both sides, and relying on good defense and base hits. Couldn't have asked for two better teams to be playing - and these two teams ARE the best in the MLB. I was on the edge of my seat all game. Boston is so damn scary when there at the plate - and their pitching is just frustrating for an opponent fan. Thanks to some of you showing that not all Boston fans are douchebags. And to the homers - see ya next year bitches! Go Rays!
  7. Remember, Shields is being swapped for Kazmir. That should give any non-Rays follower a glimmer of hope.
  8. HAHAHAHHAHA... Wait... that wasn't funny. Anyway, good little story now that you mention fans that know nothing about their team... Game 2 of this series I'm sitting pretty close to the Sox bullpen - close to where the most sox fans congregated. And some obnoxiously funny Rays fan proceeded to ask the surrounding Sox 'fans' to name a Boston area code. The looks on their faces were priceless. Blank... confused... scared...
  9. Just a quick, FYI. It'd be going back to St. Pete. It's okay, though. No worries since you all get the privilege to see the end of the series up there, you don't have to worry!
  10. Word up. No negativity! Go team, go!
  11. Bump! Why'd you all get rid of my buddy? Hope you all get a good days rest. Wait... looks like the fans were doing plenty of that in the stands... Oh well... take Wednesday to regroup, refocus, and plan on how you'll deal with another embarrassing home game* Really though - was mighty unimpressed with the defending champs. And in a place that the Rays couldn't buy a win not too long ago. Maybe with the housing market looking so bad, the Rays are trying to capitalize on it. Your house is becoming our vacation-house. *read: batting practice
