I guess we'll agree to disagree then. He is a decent infielder and fair hitter. That's all I want from a backup infielder. Anyway, this hurts to watch. Actually, more like embarrassing.

Huh?

Buchholz was supposed to start the year at AAA.

Beckett, Schilling, Dice-K, Wakefield, and Lester were the orginal five starters. Schilling got hurt, Beckett went on the DL, and the Red Sox had little choice other than to go with Buchholz.

That doesn't make him any better' date=' does it?[/quote']

I'm willing to give him slack...he's still learning on the job.

Sucks because the window for 24/34 is closing but whatever.

Texas would probably take him.

Why, exactly? Texas' GM is stupid, but not that stupid. If I could undo that Cora/Vazquez trade, I would immediately.

EDIT: Texas' GM = Jon Daniels. Name slipped my mind.

Because most their infield is on the DL.

Who is blaming the pitchers. We are evaluating his performance.

As most Red Sox Nation does when things aren't going well. Everyone says things based on impulse. He sucks, release him, he's a fluke, blah blah blah....

A lot of people said the same stuff about Jon Lester...what is everyone saying now? 12 starts for Clay Buchholz does not determine his career as a big league pitcher. I'd rather see him face major league hitters and fight through tough times than face cupcakes in AAA which he has shown he can dominate. He is our #5 pitcher and if we are counting on our #5 pitcher to be the saving grace of this team then we aren't going anywhere....so whats the point?

I totally agree.

We're not going anywhere.

So your point is that the Red Sox FO is taking actions now to win by having signed Schilling in December? Hmm? Is there a time machine at work here?

There was no point, it was a fact.

You said, "the FO handed him a rotation spot." He was given a rotation spot, because they had no real other option, when Schilling and Beckett went down.

The FO wanted him to learn more at AAA. He wasn't projected to be in the rotation in March.

Now that is hardly fair. Some of Red Sox Nation* carefully researches the issues at hand before blaming everything on a cabal of the umpires, Hank Steinbrenner, Bud Selig, and, possibly, Satan, on the days when we get angry with Satan and accuse him of falling into a bad crowd.

He is not up for a spot start is he? They took Masterson out of the rotation to give the spot to Bucholz.

I thought you were talking about at the start of the year.

My bad.

Masterson would be struggling just as much....his BABIP was unsustainable, as low as it was and he couldn't get lefties out.

My cryptic posts are suscerptible to misinterpretation, especially when the Sox are getting no-hit. I should have worked late instead of subjecting myself to this.
