Beckett, Schilling, Dice-K, Wakefield, and Lester were the orginal five starters. Schilling got hurt, Beckett went on the DL, and the Red Sox had little choice other than to go with Buchholz.

I'd rather see him face major league hitters and fight through tough times than face cupcakes in AAA which he has shown he can dominate. He is our #5 pitcher and if we are counting on our #5 pitcher to be the saving grace of this team then we aren't going anywhere....so whats the point?

Now that is hardly fair. Some of Red Sox Nation* carefully researches the issues at hand before blaming everything on a cabal of the umpires, Hank Steinbrenner, Bud Selig, and, possibly, Satan, on the days when we get angry with Satan and accuse him of falling into a bad crowd.

He is not up for a spot start is he? They took Masterson out of the rotation to give the spot to Bucholz.
