Replay showed Pedroia was safe.

On YES, he was out. On Baseball Tonight, he was out. On ESPNews...guess what..replay showed he was out. Only you think he was safe. Now...it was a bang-bang play..but he was out.

You are one to talk' date=' you cry more than any Yankee poster on this site.[/quote']

Whatever. Here's a tissue. Cry me a river.

Mike Lowell would have to stand on the outside edge of the batters box to have a chance at that pitch...we are talking about 12 inches inside...not a couple

Watch the highlights of Arod's called strike and Lowell's called strike. Then come back and post.

Foster had a big strike zone with two dominant pitchers on the mound, regardless of the zone. Nice to see a pitcher's duel. Let's hope the rest of the series is as exciting.

The only thing worse than losing to the Yankees' date=' is being dominated by a pitcher with absolutely no class.[/quote']

Finally up for your nap?

From a non-bias source (Rotoworld):

Mike Lowell was ejected from Friday's game in the ninth inning for arguing balls and strikes.

It was a bad call in a big situation, and Lowell was absolutely correct to argue it to the point of getting tossed. In the fourth inning, Lowell was the victim of a called strike on a 3-1 count that was particularly ridiculous, though he went on to walk anyway. He then struck out looking in both the seventh and ninth, and the final pitch in the ninth was also clearly a ball. Jul. 2

He's not saying that the pitch to Lowell was a strike.

Also, Gom, I agree that both were balls, but the pitch to Lowell was a bit more inside than the pitch to A-Rod.

one of the perks of working at Fenway: having Joba and Abreu walk about 2 feet in front of you.

Unless you pissed on their shoes, I don't know how that's a perk.

The whole thing is, that pitch was called a strike all game. For both sides. Like I said, you had two calls go the Sox's way, Melky's caught stealing and Pedroia's stolen base, and no one said a thing.

Now if we can just split the next two, we take the series, and like I said before the season started, we win the East. Hopefully Tampa can knock the Sox out of the playoffs.

after all this, to be 1 game back in the L column at this juncture is sweet. If we are to take the series, we need to take tomorrows game. ponson vs lester doesnt look too promising for us

I was kidding. I didn't think I'd have to make that completely obvious, but I suppose I was wrong.

And no, to be honest, I'd kinda be like "hey, cool, they're major leaguers" but then shortly after I'd realize who they were, and then go more to the tune of, "f*** them."

BS. No other pitch within four inches of that spot to RHH was called a strike all night for either team. The pitch was about two inches off the top of the MLB-definition strikezone given Lowell's stance, and few umpires call pitches that high as strikes. But the pitch missed the inside edge of the plate by a whopping 7.7 (well, 7.736 ;)) inches--there's no way that it should have been called a strike.

Here's the raw data from MLB:

Both a700 and I said something: we agreed that Pedroia was safe. I pointed out that, unless one used a particular camera angle, he looked to be out; that would explain viewers who hadn't seen NESN footage being upset.

Gom, congratulations on the Yankees' close victory last night. The Yankees' win does not confer the mantle of truth upon all of your pronouncements.

Tampa has been doing horrid on the road as of late, rest of their season is mostly on the road. Boston has the 2nd best home record and guess what, the majority of the 2nd half is at home. Boston has veteran players that are well tested in the playoffs, few players from Tampa have even encountered a playoff push. Yep sure Boston in 3rd place

BP Morning Odds of each AL East team's reaching the playoffs, using an ELO system:

Boston: 73%

Tampa Bay: 51%

New York: 45%

Toronto: 5%

Baltimore 0% (OK, 0.13857%)

Nobody has locked up an ALDS berth except, perhaps, the LA Angels at 97%. There's no room for hubris or cockiness; there is room for confidence and for anticipation of two more great months of AL East baseball.

This prediction would be interesting if it didn't come every single time the two teams get close in the standings or every offseason.

[/quote']Even using those camera angles where he got tagge on the hip, how often do you a guy get called out on a close play when the tag is on the hip whether the guy goes in head first or feet first. Jeter was flailing to tag Pedroia's hand and he missed.

I think he was out, it looked like he got his hip before he got to the bag.

That said, Pedroia deserved to be safe for how badass his slide was.
