I think the end of his time is fast approaching in Boston. I just don't think he has that dirt dog mentality to play here, and without it you can never succeed in a place like Boston. Trot had it. Nomar had it. Millar had it. Drew? Give me a break. This team has zero chance to win the WS with Drew manning right field, and all of the blame should lie with Theo for bringing in this bum.

He's soft, doesn't play with any emotion, and looks like he doesn't even care. The only logical solution is to magnify each of his mistakes to the point where he can't take it any more and asks to be traded, or better yet, released. I mean, it's not like the guy is a career .900 OPS hitter or anything, or the fact that he has played in the NL his whole career and might need to make some adjustments. Nope. Not good enough. The guy's making $14 million, and in a game where Gary Matthews can make $10 million and put up the numbers Drew has, he has to go.

I miss Trot and the days when he'd play hurt, because that inspired the team and led to win after win. I miss Orlando Cabrera, who made the clubhouse fun and that led to us winning the division when he was here...not like JD Drew who is a cancer to the clubhouse and alienates his teammates because he makes $14 million.

JD DREW HAS GOT TO GO

I said that more than 2 months ago and you guys called me crazy. People put too much confidence into Theo. There's a reason why the Dodgers couldn't stand Drew and no one wanted him when he opted out. Ellsbury is on absolute fire right now, I see no reason to have Drew in the lineup. Bench him, give Ellsbury the spot in RF. Adds youth, character, someone who cares, oh yea, and a better player. I can't wait to see JD pack his bags and get the f*** out of Boston. Hell I'll pay for his damned cab and flight back to hicksville USA.

we couldnt get a sack of s*** of jd drew

hes got juan pierre power#s with julio lugos batting average

we own him forever and theres nothing we can do about it but watch

he makes more than david ortiz

he makes more than any pitcher on this staff

if we dont win it all then theo will have to answer for this pile of s***

I do not think that a player should be hailed just because he dives at every ball ( e.g. Eric Byrnes) or plays hurt ( e.g. Damon). I am amazed that some posters in this board still misses Nixon. There are some players who can seem to be extremly casual but can make any pitcher s*** in their pants when the game is on the line( e.g. Manny). Ultimately - it should come down to performance. I don't think that most fans don't like Drew because it seems like he does not care. I think they don't like him because he has sucked all year - just think of the crucial double plays and strike outs in the last two games. He does look out of sync and lost at the plate the way he swings. He has earlier turned it around in the post season( I think with the Braves) - and I will be more than happy if he does that.

Nope that's totally not true. I hate him and so do the Red Sox because he doesn't punch water coolers or come up with cool slogans (COWBOY UP!!!!) or fun handshakes.

The guy is a clubhouse cancer and needs to go.

I somewhat agree with this, but you must also realize, not everyone can be, whats the word to use here, "On it" every year I suppose I could say it like that. Sometimes a player is going to have a bad season. Give him one more season, then run him out of town. lol

Talking about players not showing to care reminds me about how much that 2004 team bonded and cared about baseball. I wish they made zero changes to that exact roster. Could you imagin how many games up Boston would be every year B)

You mean how many games we would have won this year with Millar, Mueller, Belhorn, Lowe, Pedro, Damon, Arroyo, Nixon in our roster? Not that many will be my guess.

That roster had some spark to it.

So does this years, but not as much as 2004.

1. this post was sarcastic.

2. you see the season the White Sox are having? that's probably where we would have been right now if we kept the team.

It's not 2004 anymore...

You can't just keep that team together for the sake of nostalgia. They're just not the same players as they were, ability wise and certainly not health wise.

Dude I totally agree with you. Guys like Trot and Cabrera made that team special! What was your favorite handshake??

Quickly, OT, what did you think of Sox Appeal this week, and who do you think will win President of RSN?

Orlando and Manny definately had the best handshake B) That team had such chemistry. I wish every year the team could drop/gain players and still have that same level of chemistry and inthusiasm (I cant spell so just sound it out lol)

Jerry Remy for the answer of your OT question.

First off, you guys are missing the obvious reason for that teams success. The hair. It had to be the hair. Sure, we have some nice hair on this team between Manny's dreads and Coco's little 'fro... but having a balding second baseman? Bad mojo, man.

Second off... there is no second off.

Awesome. I loved Cabrera's and Millar's, like when they did the whole cowboy thing for COWBOY UP.

And I love RemDawg. Do you have a bobbledesk? I need to save up to get one of those bad boys but they always run out.

Dude, and Pedro's Jheri curl? That s*** was off the chain.

Another reason to hate JD Drew and his lame ass crew cut. How boring. If he had dreads it'd be so much easier to like him.

Not only white sox kept the same team - they have actually upgraded the offence with Jim Thome.

Makes you wonder.

With Coco in CF, Manny in LF, and now Ellsbury ready, why keep Drew? I absolutely do not believe that you should stick with a guy just because you gave him a lot of money. If there are guys on the team that will be better for the team now and in the feature, I go with them.

Because Drew is a good baseball player who is having a bad year. Maybe this year it would be better for Ellsbury to play, but in '08 I see him manning CF and Crisp being traded in the off-season. I doubt you find someone who will take Drew unless you eat more than half of his salary.

JD Drew...damn, sometimes I think this fker is made of wood or something.

Who's his Dad, fkn Gepetto?

Unlike Pinnochio, Drew doesn't have a lieing/growing nose issue.

No, with JD, it's that the more he falters the less he seems to care.

On a good note, after Drew scored the go-ahead run a couple of nights ago I actually saw him clap...like three times...clap, clap, clap...and there was almost a hint of an expression on his face.

Could the Boy Made of Wood (BMOW) actually be coming to life? And who is the "Jiminy Cricket" that may be influencing this puppet of a man? Only time will tell.

(By the way, in the original version of Pinnochio the boy is hanged for his many faults.)

Maybe he should lie a lot then bring his nose to the plate, he can't do much worse than with the wood he's been swinging lately.

I think he's going to break out soon, he's sucked too long and too hard not to. He can't be that bad.

After seeing the little bit of excitement coming from him I wondered if he was relaxing just a little bit. Last night was a good night for him.

Maybe the game-day thread should have a Pinnochio theme.

Drew has held his own in RF, maybe not as big of numbers as we like but decent. Earlier in ST, I read an article where Tito was talking about how much Drew had changed in the club house. Going from quiest and keeping to himself, to joking around with the guys and on that particular day ripping dustin Pedroia about his beard. I have no issues abour Drew being the teams RF.
