Woohoo! That signing was incredible. :thumbdown

It seems like only yesterday that everyone here was procaliming him the next Nomar at shortstop, saying his offense would cover his defensive liabilities.

That .222 average and keen ability to break up perfect games is not turning out so well is it.

Not as bad a signing as JD Drew, but pathetic nonetheless.

Lugo sucks, the Dodgers were smart enough to give him a shot as a renta last year, and hope he would get hot for them.

Nomar, Freddy Sanchez, Hanley Ramirez, and Edgar Renteria was paid so another team would take him...Go Lugo!!!

Just give us back A-Gon at least we know he cant hit . We would be talking about Curt's perfect game . A-Gon at least was good in the field .

Who ever called Lugo the next Nomah? The FO expected Lugo to come with a steady glove. They knew he would have his share of errors, but also knew he had great range, so it ballances out a bit. They also expected him to have some pop, enough for 10-15 HR and a BA around .270-.280, an OBP around .330-.360 and great speed.

Lugo is struggling at the plate, but honestly, he's the best choice they had. Alex Gonzalez isn't a good hitter. I don't care how good he is doing right now, thats simply not his norm. I agree the FO office should have held onto O'Cab or Renteria, but they didn't. Now I love Hanley, but Mike Lowell and Josh Beckett help this team more than he would have. Again, I hated seeing him go, but it's for the good, like the Nomah trade.

Hanley does everything Jose Reyes does, except he isn't a midget. He is 6'3" and most likely will develop power. Its ridiculous how many SS's the sox have gone through, only to currently have Lugo.

The trade landed Beckett, which is hard to argue against, but having a stud like Hanley lets us spend money elsewhere.

Yes and no. Great pitchers are hard to come by. Beckett is turning into just that. Mike Lowell did have a high price tag, but he has turned out to be well worth his price, and as a FA, we could either sign him for less money or let him walk. I think a straight up trade of Hanley for Beckett would still be a good trade. Pitching is harder to obtain than offense. Again, it's really tough to see the kid go, but I think it was a good move. Only time will tell. And remember, when the kid gets older and becomes a FA, we could get him back if we are willing to pay.

Haha, I know they both played for L.A., so you should be familiar with Alex AND Joey.

I really miss OC He was a stud here Theo should have signed him at all costs .

After winning a championship it is usually important to make changes, because some teams tend to get complacent if there are no new additions.

The next Nomar? Where the hell did you dig that up, or did you just fabricate it?

Hes a quality major league player, who busts his ass and had an unfortunate thing happen to him today.

As much as I love the RedSox....if I were a player, you couldnt pay me enough money to stay the f*** outta this place with its fanbase.....christ

he had a horrid 2nd half but i for 1 was glad he was moved out of the al east cause he seemed to be a pain in our ass

he seems to contribute and be in the middle of those manufactured innings but he has been a disappointment #s wise, theres no debate on this matter based on #s alone

that said we all know its more than #s

mark belanger was a career .215 hitter for baltimore and he wouldnt get 40 rbi a year

those 40 came against the sox after the 7th inning in close games it seemed

his dp mate bobby grich was similar,25 hoppers that would go between the 2nd basman and the short stop but wouldnt go over 120 feet, usually tying or taking the lead in those at bats...

oakland had that prick walt weiss who owned our asses but only in close games with runners in scoring position

we had marty barrett in 86 bat .450+?? in the series

ray knight and that other ********** wally backman did us in

the yanks with girardi and speizio were huge components in the yanks post season success

hockey fans will remember claude""he was looking"" lemieux

the man wouldnt get 3 goals in 82 games

in may he would lead the league in scoring

#s lie

lugo hasnt done what hes capable of doing but i dont consider him a complete bust as of yet

In the post free-agency era. Seems as if there might have been a few good teams back in the day who had the same players year after year, but my memory is fading.

This is simple. It wasn't the shake and bake theory that led to the overhaul in 04'. Henry and the boys went on record that they wanted the team to be more "professional." Read: not the wild and crazy guys that made up the 03', 04' contingent. Henry is very conservative and private and he was embarrassed by the antics.

Cabrera was the sparkplug poster child for that boys town, little Rascals clubhouse. Millar as well. There was a purging of that group. In came the Lowells (albeit like the red headed step-child), the Loretta's et al. Old-school Tek type baseball players. Manny the lone refuge because he's untradeable (thank god)

How many true "characters" are left. Schilling wasn't tendered a contract in March. If he was Wake, I believe he would have been. It's an approach and they are sticking to it. We have the Youks and the Pedroias and the Coras. If you ever hear of any one of them on the front page of The Post w/ a hooker, I'd be shocked...and I'm unshockable.

J.D. Drew. Ugh. This is not an original thought...are there any original thoughts? But, I really believe that was a back door deal to get the Dice-K doings done. (a little alliteration for the backstage crew). The pomp...the circumstance of the last minute deal was a symphony of ******** reigning down on The Nation. These people didn't get to be billionaires by chance. Shrewd. Also, Theo's had a man-crush on Lugo for years. Like the spoiled little kid. "Ok Theo...we'll give you Julio if you just pretend that you're not in the loop for a few months while we do what we need to and then you can come back and play."

MJ....I KNOW you're not going to challenge me now are you? I said characters...not character.

They didn't like the antics. The booze in the clubhouse...you know having fun and facial hair and all of that. Individuality.

Try again.

Difficult days Sir Sean. Put one foot in front of the other. The only one I'd take back is Cabrera.

theres a cultural thing there ya know

will cordero absolutley tuned his bride up and was essentially personna non grata after his pathetic attempt to explain himself with a grin on his face

the rev irving fryar got into a knife fight with his wife the week of the superbowl and had his finger tendons sliced open

no one minded him being the vic but were concerned about his absence

my grandparents were from the isle of green

papa from belfast and a hard core orangeman

gramma from cork, white laced catholic educated and saint like in her faith

they drank a lot and i would be in their custody on the beaches of rockport from june to september

the abuse was bothways, physical and constant

ive seen the old lady smash a jar of pickels on the old mans head

its cultural and right or wrong domestic violence is a real deal in so many different cultures i cant count

hey mom

1day atta time and this too as everything else shall pass

so im told

cabrerra was smoooooooooth

we dealt hanley after letting him wallow for a year when he was ready

i was told by some guys who laid the sod after the stones concert that they kept hanley away from manny due to mannys negative laisez faire attitude??

if hanley works as hard as manny he'll be in the hall of fame if healthy

anyways

i dont know about the veracity of it all but pellys goombah went to yale with theo and theo and brian farrell are still real close so i get some of this ******** gossip from fairly decent sources...plus my lil bro works in the same building as MLB and NFL headquarters and often dines with their legal people as hes represented a s*** load of pro teams in his legal career...most of the s*** i hear is nonsense

some of it??

like arn tellems confession about nomars paranoid psyzophrenia, the balco indictments and a recent defense contract that hasnt been made public yet i am sold on 100%

i hate the non baseball related issues because they take away from the game and that in itself is horrible

the fuking post is disgraceful for outing arod then chasing him from ny to boston to chitown just to get a word of misery sent his way....why??

it sells i guess but i would also assume most of us dont give a f***

anyways

feeling good on a thursday evening and i love this outlet to empty my mind
