I think he managed it just fine.

The fact Joba's gone til Monday makes me very, very happy.

Yeah, from a Yankee fans' perspective it's unfortunate, but he was taking the outs when he could get them with Joba. I can't complain. He limited Mo and Vizcaino to one inning each so they should be in good shape for tomorrow.

How exactly do you think he should have managed the game?
The Yanks have still have an uphill battle for the DIvision, especially since they will be facing 3 good starters in the 4 games against Toronto and the Sox will be facing the D-Rays. The Yanks pretty much have a playoff spot locked up, and no one will know the 1st round matchups until probably the first game. I would not have burned the pen by using Mo, Joba and Vizcaino in the same game. At most, I would have used two of those three.

If you think that they have a playoff spot locked up then why does it matter that they're a little handicapped for tomorrow's game?

As I said before, Mo and Vizcaino will be available tomorrow. As for Joba, considering the rules, it would be important to use him when the oppurtunity presents itself because you don't know when there will be another close game. You don't want someone like that rotting around in the bullpen considering he's used to pitching every five days.

Because I want Torre to foolishly burn his pen all week long trying to win the division. I know he is going to go all out for the East Division flag (Whoopie!), and I am hoping his pen is spent by time the first round starts.

What makes you so sure that his number one goal is to prepare for the playoffs?

I don't know what his goal is. I am hoping he is still trying to win the division, so he will max out his pen and wear them out before they get to the playoffs.

Well, you said you know that he is going to go all out to win the division...

Anyways, I think that they'll find a middle ground in terms of going for the division and preparing for the playoffs at the same time. At this point the Yankees probably wouldn't get homefield advantage throughout if they won the division, so I don't think it's really worth it.

It think he will go all out for the division unless they fall back by 4 games after this weekend. I don't know this for a fact, but Joe has always been a manager that plays to win every game. He rarely concedes a game today to prepare for tomorrow.

That's true, but his team is in a unique situation that they haven't really experience in a long time (if ever).

Haha, hope not. If I were the manager I wouldn't go all out for it, but we'll see what Joe and the organization as a whole decide to do.

Clemens was pushed up.

It's not that big a deal, but that last pitch was not a strike. What makes it worse in my opinion is that the homeplate umpire had a very small the zone the entire game, and he had not been calling that pitch a strike. I think anyone who watched would agree with that.

It probably would not have made a difference, just making an observation.

Correction about the Clemens part. He tweaked his hamstring and was pushed back to Monday. Apparently he did it while running on Thursday, but when he threw a bullpen he didn't feel anything. However the Yankees are trying to be cautious and will push him back.

Right now sopcast can't connect to the channel, but I'm assuming that's only because the game hasn't started yet. It should be able to connect when the game actually starts though, right? Or is something wrong with it?

Regarding last night, I thought Torre handled the bullpen about as well as you could. He gave the offense a ton of chances to get something done by using his relievers, they just couldn't finish it. I'm not worried about Torre 'going for it' and burning everyone out. On M&MD yesterday, he said that if Jeter or A-Rod would benefit from a day off he wouldn't hesitate to give it to them to prepare and be better for the postseason.

If you don't use your best relievers yesterday, when are you going to use them? It's not like the playoffs start tomorrow. I love to criticize Torre, but I think he handled yesterday very well. Once you get to Brian Bruney, you should blame the offense for not capitalizing before that.

I'm not sure exactly, I think that schedule normally links to the mlb.tv feed (hadn't thought about that at the time). May have to find a fox sopcast link.

Whooo!!! .200 hitter Thigpen with the 2 RBI single, 3-1 Jays in the 4th inning

Hughes was worked in the 4th inning, throwing 35 pitches in the process. He is already at 80 pitches, the bullpen phone will be ringing soon enough

Recently when I log onto sopcast and start watching a game, it freezes for a few seconds, then goes to normal and then back to freezing. Does this happen to anyone and if so, how do you fix it?
