If your concern is about getting there at all, then you are not in agreement with Jacko. He's eyeing the division, hence the comment about "trailing" in a race.

Personally, I hope they do everything they can to try and win the division. Extend starters, work the key relievers, limit off days. I, like Jacko, think they are getting in without question at this point. Them emptying the tank for the little glam that is the division crown would make me happy.

If the yankees win the division, then we can punch a return to the ALCS against you guys. We get Cleveland who we absolutely own and you guys would get ANA who you absolutely own. A rematch is what i want.

its a better offense than what Clay faced for his no-no' date=' so lets not pull this card. he is facing a solid major league team.[/quote']

... you just pulled the "he faced an easier offense" card when the kid through a NO-HITTER IN HIS SECOND MAJOR LEAGUE START EVER.

Wow, theres Yankee fan bias. Bucholz's no hitter is not all that great because of what team he was facing. Explain why no-hitters dont happen that often then

can you read or are you trying to be this thick. I was responding to the thought that Kennedy was only throwing a 1 hitter because it was a crappy team. I am saying that you need to be pretty damn good to pitch well against any team.

1 hitter in his 3rd major league start?

I didn't say this wasn't impressive. I said nothing about it. But you played that card when it shouldn't have been played. C'mon Jacko, you know it too.

A 1-hitter is impressive, yes.

jacko is seeing the reality of the 1st non yankee al east banner since he had acne issues and a masturbation addiction

the first part has been gone for a long time. The second part, well, are you supposed to lose that?

and his stretch set too. Even though his numbers dont bear it out, the kid has some very good control. He is a sure bet to be a solid mid rotation pitcher if he can keep it up. Hell of a start, too bad gas can and his bum shoulder are coming in to paint the kid with the L.

Sox last game heading into the series against New York is a walkoff win at the bottom of the 9th. The Yankees last game heading into the series is a walkoff loss at the bottom of the 9th' date=' 5.5 game lead for Boston[/quote']

Yeah, but remember what happened before the last series with the Yanks?

A sweep is needed for any chance at all' date=' but those are close to slim at this point.[/quote']

The Yankees need to play well against Boston not because of the division, but because they want to make the playoffs.

In terms of making the playoffs, the Tigers need to make up 4 in the L column while facing the Twins 6 times (with Santana pitching twice) then the Guardians who smell blood in the divisional water for 3. This is all without one of their best pitchers (Bonderman), with one of their stalwarts from last yr pitching like s*** (Robertson), and with another one coming back from injury(Rogers). I know the same can be said about us in the last 2 categories, but we have the 4 game lead and after the sox series, it is smooth sailing against chumps.

Smooth sailing.....saltwater in my veins and more than a few misguided souls have been lost at sea w/ that kind of thinking. Watch out for the lee shore and squalls are guaranteed.

The Tigers and the Yankees both have three games against teams getting ready to close out their division, so we shouldn't even discuss that. After that they both play teams that aren't conteding for the rest of the season.

The Tigers pitching might be in shambles, but the Yankees pitching is not exactly in great shape either. On top of that, it's not like Bonderman was tearing it up before he got hurt.

The Yankees are obviously in better shape, and I think they'll win the wild card in the end. But you're talking like it's set in stone. What if the Yanks lose two out of three this weekend, and the Tigers, sensing the urgency, sweep the Twins. All of a sudden it's 2 out in the loss column, and 1.5 overall. It's not over, by any means, in my opinion.
