I figure after This Game those comments would quiet a bit.

Unfortunately, Schilling beat the Yanks when it counted. On top of that, he clearly wasn't 100% healthy that night.

Anyway, big game for the Yanks tonight.

That game was in Fenway...?

And he did a great job shutting up 40,000 people.

Yes he stepped up when he had to, but when you make stupid comments like he did, you open yourself up to ridicule if you screw up.

Anyway, Yankees winning like I figured they would. Take the rubber match tomorrow and we're sitting pretty.

...but he didn't screw up. He whooped the Yanks' candy asses in front of 55,000 New Yorkers, effectively shutting them up. Where's the screw up?

I meant from that point on, for example his closer debut.

Anyway, happy to pick up the game on Seattle and Detroit today. Not really fretting about the Sox anymore. Whatever happens with them, happens. If we can win tomorrow, I'll be very confident about our playoff spot.

edit-

But last time I checked he shut up yankee fans on a bad ankle' date=' that cold October night.[/quote']

Certainly not taking that away from him. I guess I'm just getting on him for being a media whore.

arod is having the best season ive ever seen a yankee have

funny how you dont hear the ""arod isnt a true yankee"" verse anymore

f***ing cock has been unreal, unreal this year and hes done it many times under extreme pressure

the loss of sheffield has been quietly subdued by this monster season and ny is fighting baltimore for 4th without him

boras has ny bent over barrel with this guy

he's about to turn cashman into his personal hand puppet

Hughes pitches today. Mariners win the series. f***.

I won't even bother to argue about Hughes anymore, so I'll just say that Mariner fans are probably saying the same thing about Washburn pitching today.

Washburn since the ASB: 1-6 record, 5.55 ERA, 58.1 IP

I know the Yankees tend to struggle against lefties, but if the Yankees continue to click after last night, I don't see Jarrod shutting them down.

I hope I'm wrong about Hughes, I really am, but we should have traded this guy at midseason when we had a chance.

Nice meatball Hughes. If this kid is in the rotation next year' date=' I will throw up. 2-0 Mariners.[/quote']

He should have made a better pitch, but that was 100% a product of the count. The homeplate umpire has been really bad today. The first two pitches to Ibanez were strikes, and both were called balls.

Washburn isn't getting the same zone. Take a look at the called strike threes on Derek Jeter in the first and Shelley Duncan in the second.

I don't like to make excuses, and I don't think I'm someone that does that very often if at all, but he has been bad tonight.

Doesn't excuse a meatball to Ibanez. Umpiring is part of the game, and the calls are not that different from what I'm seeing.

Think what you want, I'm not excusing Phil from the HR, but he's actually pitching well.

Oh, and he must really suck, how could he strand a runner on third with less than two outs?

Shouldn't have been there to begin with. This kid pitches well enough to lose. Location is s***, fastball is below average, I really can't see how he will be any good. What pisses me off about him is that we are blowing games in "trying" him out when we are fighting for the wild card.

Who would you rather see out there?

Good inning for Hughes.

If he's not in the rotation next year I'll throw up. Really, step off the ledge. He's 21 years old and was the #2 prospect in baseball coming into the year, and is coming off 2 leg injuries. Not everybody is Justin Verlander out of the shoot.

Clemens had a 4.32 ERA in his first season with Boston. Santana had a 6.49 ERA in his first season, and a 4.74 ERA in his second season. Re-f***ing-lax.

Well said.

But Gom, even if you don't like Hughes, I'd still like to know who you would rather have in the rotation?

Whether they score here or not, bunting with Damon is an awful decision.

EDIT: I try to blame the players, but that is terrible managing. For a lot of reaons a bunt there is a really poor decision.

Joba Chamberlain impresses me more and more every time I see him. He's got the stuff a big leaguer needs, and it sure seems like he's got the makeup to handle New York.

No more complaining about the umpires from me. The pitches that Betemit and Posada walked on were strikes, and there were two bad calls with Ichiro on the bases. I'll admit a break when I see a break, and the Yankees have gotten their share tonight.
