the moments to have fun on this thread have been few and far between for a few weeks but i like this from fox regarding edwar ramirez and his stuff.

News: Ramirez struck out the side in his major league debut on Tuesday, finishing off the Yankees' 8-0 win over the Twins.

Impact: This isn't out of line with what Ramirez was doing before his callup, when he struck out 80 batters over 43.1 innings combined between Double-A and Triple-A. Perhaps this outing will encourage Joe Torre to use him Ramirez in closer game situations.

and this box from this evening

Pitcher

Name IP H R ER BB K ERA*

E Ramirez 0 1 3 3 4 0 15.43

i wont bother you with the 19 pitch 17 ball effort.

this is exhibit A as to why i dont think the yanks can catch us.

despite our woes and apathetic last 2 months i think our pitching is just too consistant over the long haul and the yanks just dont have the arms to catch us.

9 weeks left and its still too early to start raising banners however....

I'm not raising banners till they raise banners and the champagne is flowing over goggles in the clubhouse (and not wild card win goggles but the real deal) and not riding around on a police horse like faggot mercenary Boggs/Clemens...but like the wins that are hard won.

Like anything that actually matters. I guess.

Jackson is doing his I'm pretending to be in surgery deal. He doesn't disappear because he ducks discussing his crappy team. It's just simple veracity of movement. Or lack thereof. Like me. I'm actually a spy. Hence, my only posting at night. In Prague. In a coffee shop. W/ a really big hat.

you women are brutal,really brutal

you just beat that boy at every turn with all the mercy of a turkish prison official without smokes...

after he came back in oct 04 i had to give it to him

he had his chance to run hide and evade forever as a lot of them did but after a day or 2 of reflection he was back starting hot stove threads and telling us how jarret wright would win 18 pavano 23 and rj 27 in 05.

hes easier to read these days

age and maturity mellow most of us

Wee, Sox pick up a game, you all come out of the woodwork. It's one loss. They'll deal with it. Doesn't change the fact that the Yankees are equipped for a good run down the stretch here. They'll be in the thick of things when the smoke clears.

I really hate it, but Mussina can't have Posada catching him. He is ass terrible without his personal ball boy Nieves.

Just take 2 tomorrow and make up for this, that's all.

its july 20 arod

nobody in their right mind is penciling in travel plans to the west coast in october but the fact is our staff is fairly solid and the yanks just cant count on mussina and clemens anymore

wang is great but also beatable against another decent arm and kei and the burnt pen are an albatross that is too big i feel to overcome over the long haul

hey

i dont count those pricks out ever but this season the balance of pitching is on our side for a change

Crunchy, um, have you seen Clemens of late?

His last 4 starts..

27.1IP 8ER 1.01WHIP

You have a point with Mussina. Something is wrong with the guy. His velocity was down last yr as well, but this yr his location is totally off. Last night I watched him bull his way to a 2 strike count then tail an 85 mph pitch down the middle. It is not normal as he is such a control freak. Some people will think he is hurt or what-have-you, I wont be one of them. For me, he is still an effective 4/5 pitcher, but will never regain the title of the Yankees #2 that he held for the past 6yrs.

Beckett Wang - Advantage- push

DMats Clemens - Advantage- Yankees

Wakefield Pettitte - Advantage- Yankees

Gabbard Mussina - Advatage- (right now you guys, but over the whole season, I'll say push)

Tavarez Igawa - Advantage- PEOPLE WITH BATS

I dont see your advantage in the rotation. And with the 3 bumpkins set to throw the next 3 days, we'll get another view of how poor the sox pitching can be. Granted, we have a DHer throwing f***ing Igawa and DeSalvo. But Schilling returns for you guys soon, Hughes is slated to return 2 days after Schilling does, so our rotations might get a little jolt.

Overall, though, you guys should have won tonight. So should we. Today is gonna be interesting to say the least.

a little Yankee fan bias at work here? I think so. You'd be hard pressed to find any baseball experts that would agree. Where was Wang during the All Star break.

Their ERA's are within .03 of each other. The Whip is within 0.05 of each other. Wang has thrown 1.2 more innings in 1 less start. They both have 11 QS's. Wang throws less pitches per start, while Beckett strikes out more. Time to face the facts, Wang and Beckett couldnt be more dissimilar in their approach, but they are about as equal as you are going to find in terms of effectiveness.

yeah cause your going back to his 2 straight games where he pitched 8 innings... he struggled in his last 2 starts

Should have? Already speaking in past tense?

Surprise that you have the yankees rotation 1-5 out pitching the sox rotation 1-5. And there should be no "push" about Beckett and Wang. Its clear that this year Beckett's been the better overall pitcher. Theres also Beckett's lower whip of 1.13 to Wang's 1.18 WHIP. Beckett has an opposing BA of .237 while Wang has been easier to hit at .257

Yep, you got me. Or, I could have been on the road and returned to the internet this am. Oh, yeah, um, I wont be on the internet tonight either or during the game tomorrow. I must be ducking it, right? Nice logic. So if the yankees lose tonight and tomorrow, you will call me out? Is that how it goes? Do I need to give my schedule to you so I dont look like I'm ducking a "beating". Fantastic talies. And where have you been during the sox miserable stretch. Exactly....

I wish all our pitchers could struggle and allow 1 run per 6 innings.

Does Matsui have fleas? He's got a weird tick where he kind of shakes his lead shoulder when he's in the box. The only thing it reminds me of is how a dog's skin will twitch when it has fleas.

He can do whatever he wants if he's going to hit the ball like he is. He does that weird thing where he looks at the logo of the bat to make sure it's centered as he is in his stance too.

D-Ray's are starting to crawl back into it. Into the Yankees bullpen -- 7-5 Yankees, one on with one out for the Rays.

Hollywood is having himself a fine inning* in the process. Makes the final out at 2nd trying to stretch a fairly routine single into a double. Then boots Navarro's long bunt. He's a joke between the ears.

*Technically, it wasn't the same inning, but two halves make a whole.

The same place I've been during the miserable stretches for the past 33 years. Bitching and moaning to real life people just not necessarily spending my life online as most of the summer has been spent on the water and having wild sex or on my Harley. Not necessarily in that order. And, you missed the point entirely. I was praising your ability to stick w/ your team and never ducking out when the going gets tough. I thinks its admirable really...I was just saying I don't actually think you're a Doctor or in Med School which is what I've been saying for 4 years and have been busting your balls for 4 years or whatever and NOW..you get sensitive?

Dear lord...I know you're literal, but really. Remember..an art and a science. And BTW...you don't know miserable stretches. You've had a few weeks months of 1/10th of one percent of difficulty. You've liked them since way back in 95' and y'all are spoiled brats. You don't know the pain and I wouldn't trade places for any amount. The noveau MFY fan is like a gnat on a hot summer day. And you Sir, are noveau..and persistent..just like the noseeum.

If the logo is facing the hitter, you wont hit the ball on the logo, which is the most sensitive part of the bat

This is the Yankees time to move...tomorrow, the Sox are in Cleveland, and as long as the Yankees can take care of the Royals, we are sure to gain on one of the teams ahead of us.

10-3 Yankees.

Game over.

Off topic' date=' I know, but do you get an RBI if you steal home?[/quote']

No you do not. Nothing that the batter did resulted in the run. You get RBI's for walks and HBP, but not for stolen bases, double plays, or errors.
