Rodriguez vs. Camp has 15 written all over it.

The problem is that Camp's a sinkerballer.

EDIT: He did a great job of keeping it down in the zone.

Yeah, but Camp has been one of the weaker links in the Rays BP. He must have just found this stuff because he looks good, but he's been awful this year.

That was incredible. Camp hasn't thrown a single pitch in the strike zone. Giambi saw Camp throw A-Rod three straight pitches that started at the knees and ended up low. Yet he goes out there and swings at two of the first three pitches. Nice swing, but even that pitch wasn't in the strike zone. The guy has gotten two of the first three batters out yet he hasn't thrown a single pitch that ended up over the plate. And there was his first.

I gotcha. I was just saying that A-Rod might not have had the best chance to homer off a sinkerballer.

I still can't believe that Joe intentionally walked Baldelli in that situation. He has to think about the team he is playing. Even if you give up one or two runs in the inning there is a good chance that the Yankees are going to be able to score at least one run in the last two innings considering how poor the D-Rays bullpen is. Joe has to avoid the big inning at all costs. By putting another runner on base and almost guaranteeing that you're going to see Crawford again is a huge mistake.

Also, it hurts that Joe replaced Damon and Melky (I'm assuming Damon's is not due to injury) for defensive replacements in a run one game where you still have nine outs to go. Joe has to realize that there is a good possibly that the D-Rays tie it or take the lead. It seems like everytime he subs out one of his regulars late in the game in comes back to bite him.

well' date=' Wang gave em innings, but it certainly sounds like CMW was fading. I just got back so I dont know. But why the hell did he bring in Vizcaino?[/quote']

Even though it was probably a mistake there are much bigger issues in my opinion. Vizcaino only faced one batter and he managed to get him out (even though he hit it hard).

What was wrong with bringing in Vizcaino? I think you guys are looking for something to gripe about there. Wang was giving up rockets that inning. Torre goes to Viz and he does his job getting his one out prior to Myers vs. Crawford.

like I said, I have not been here, so I am not sure.

There isn't really a problem with it besides the fact that he said on the pregame that he was going to try to stay away from him. Doesn't sound like he tried to hard. My problem is the intentional walk, but I've gone through that enough in previous posts.

Also, Melky should have been the guy that was sent down today instead of Kevin Thompson. Melky is struggling and the Yankees should be looking to get him regular AB's. Send him to AAA and keep Kevin Thompson with the big club. Still baffles me that they didn't trade Melky when he stock was so high. Unreal.

How is the Pirates offer of Mike Gonzalez for Melky Cabrera sounding right now?

Would have been the perfect addition by subtraction. It would have gotten Melky and(might, but probably not) Myers off the team.

True' date=' however that is not really a concern at this point.[/quote']

no kidding. 4 games. You missed your chance tonight and last night. Wang's length was encouraging, although I didnt see how he pitched. 6IP and 2 runs looks good. I am a bit surprised Torre let him go into the 7th right off the DL, but I am glad he did. Even though we lost, he may be learning that the starters dont need to be babied. Its the PEN that needs babying.

Now I know what it feels like to be a Sox fan in August...this sucks.

By the way, the Yankees were willing to make the deal, the Pirates weren't. Can't put that on the Yankees.

to handle david ortiz

he sucks,he sucked here too

at least vizcaiano didnt get torched

wang threw 87 pitches??

he looked fairly sharp and that in itself should make the bronx feel a bit better today

hence why I am not boiling over after losing 5 in a row. Watched some of the replay and his sinker was going very nicely. That Torre allowed him to go into the 7th right off the DL speaks volumes about how much he is needed on this team. And, BTW, watchout for this Tampa team. They are a minefield. Their offense is tough. Every one of them can hit the homer and steal bases. Nothing easy out of them.

cairo made a couple of nice play at SS ' date=' probly ones that jeter wouldn't have made[/quote']

Cairo did not make any plays up the middle last night and he failed to charge two high hoppers which took a bounce a couple of feet in front of him. One of them resulted in a base runner that eventually scored. Cairo did nothing last night that Jeter can't do, if anything he did less.
