Not to be a smartass, but I like your use of the verb "Oliver Perez" above ORS! :D Please don't change it.

I haven't been too impressed with the offense so far this spring, but I also know the offense is like a huge, complicated machine and it only really gets going when it has been running for awhile. Probably as the next two weeks continue we'll see the full lineup playing together more often to get them going.

Is there any doubt Shawn Green was once on roids/HGH? Again, not to be a dick but he hit 49 HR one year. 49!

I like both Brandon Moss and David Murphy. I could tolerate the idea of moving WMP for a good closer (Cordero, not Benitez) and having Murphy available as the #4 OF. He's clearly atheletic enough and appear to have gained both power and speed in the off season.

Too late, I editted it before I saw you post. Although, I can see the need to Oliver Perez from time to time.

EDIT: "see" - I can't type tonight.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but I have no doubt that you have held a cock in your mouth. Again, not trying to be a dick.

Thanks for the contribution. I'd call you ruder things for an unwarranted post like this but there's no point. All respect is now lost CrespoBlows.

You could try, but you'd probably fail.

BTW, I wasn't trying to be a dick.

a) an insult to me

B) a homophobic rant

c) a indication that CrespoBlows thinks SG could legitimately hit more HR in a season than Hank Aaron ever did.

a + b + c = s***** post

Using broad generalizations to score points + thinking that saying, "I'm not trying...." lessens the effect + missing the point = an idiot.

So why not criticize the post instead of insulting the person who wrote it? What have I EVER done to you CrespoBlows? Or is that just how you treat people you don't know?

Ex, I live in the LA area and in early 2003 Green hurt his shoulder and it seemed to rob him of his power. He went from being a 40+ homer man to one who is lucky to hit between 20-25. You would think his shoulder would have healed by now but the power seems to have permanently vanished..:o

I kind of like Moss myself. I loved the way he battled Billy Wagner tonight, fouling off numerous pitches before working the reliever for a walk. He seems to hang in there very well against lefthanders, but I tend to agree with you. I think we should trade Pena while he still has some value. The guy hasn't exactly lit up the park in ST, although that could fit most of our team this spring.

Try harder not to be a dick Crespo. Right now you're failing big time.

Hansen gives up a bomb to Ramon Castro. He looks like he's throwing a shot-put.

You notice that, too, Ex? Whoever changed his release point and delivery last spring ought to be run out of Fort Myers on a rail. Hansen has no follow through, cannot bend his back, and there is no movement on this pitches. He looked like s*** tonight. I wonder if the ******* who worked with him is still employed by the Red Sox.

The FO pumped up MDC and Hansen to the point where they believed their own propaganda. They need to wake up and move one or both of these guys for an established arm that can really help the team.

I guess we differ a little bit in that I think Pena is real talent. I would expect to get someone good for him because I think he offers something good: a young, inexpensive power hitter who can play three positions and has decent speed.

So, we agree that Pena could be moved due to Murphy and Moss's potential (Murphy is a little more well rounded, a la Gabe Kaplar at this point) and the Sox need for a closer, but I don't think it would be doing them much good if that closer isn't a multi-year shut-down guy. Otherwise they should be selective with their chips, so to speak.

I don't think the FO can be blamed for hyping MDC and Hansen. How much hype do you need for a potential closer, first round expensive pick at the height of Red Sox success? I think people here and on other such sights are guilty of that more than the FO. And MDC is in the same boat. These guys have the tools that make them worthy of discussion, but unless they prove it on the field it is all just disillusionment, not hype.

That's part of their job. However, the FO has the talent evaluators that should be able to give the FO advance warning which kids are not going to be very good before the rest of the league and the fans know it. If you try to trade them after they have been exposed, you will not get as much for them.

Yes, yes. But it all comes down to the idea that you draft the best you can, and then you stay optimistic. Yeah the FO may have concerns that they aren't voicing at every turn, but what good would it do them to openly gripe about all that stuff.

Mostly I just don't think this FO has to hype much. Pretty much whatever they do ends up being hype and people just suck it up.

They should never bad mouth their prospects, but they should know enough to trade them before they are exposed. Onced they are exposed, their value falls.

I notice in your profile you claim to be 65 years old. Try shocking the hell out of us and start acting your age and put your filthy mouth on hold. I might even cut you some slack since you share the same birthday as my greatest hero Abraham Lincoln. That you do should inspire you to mend your ways. And lay off my pal Ex.

That's true. It's all about letting them "age" appropriately.

Gentlemen, just a heads-up to all of you. Spring Training game or not, I think it would be a good idea for the Red Sox to go out there and win this game today. Remember last time we played the Dodgers? We lost and the whole train of their fans came on here to give us the business, mostly good naturedly from where I sit. Maybe we can return the favor if they come on again. If we blow another game to the Dodgers, their fans can claim bragging rights for the Spring and whether the games count or not, it is still bragging rights. As I recall, some of you were not very happy to see them come on and get our goats. Surprisingly it didn't bother me a bit, but it might a little this time.

GO RED SOX--------please.

I also have claimed to be 11, 43, 30, etc...

I got a question, why don't you start acting your age and quit asking teenagers if they want to meet you at Fenway? You know what I'm talking about, Fred.

Quite a pissing contest we're now having CB. Yes, I know what you're talking about and it might be a good idea of getting your mind out of the sewer into the light of day. I have never met teenagers at Fenway but red blooded Red Sox fans who I have met on the various boards I post on.

Now start acting like Lincoln who birthdate you share and show some good cheer about the Red Sox and leave the other garbage out. Show some of that cheer by telling me what the hell happened to the game today. I can't get it anywhere, even the Dodger station out here.

In my best Lincoln tradition, have a nice day and a great weekend.
