yea I have to say this Jeter bashing is kind of crazy. he is a special player.

other yankees= not :-)

jeter is the only one who gets any credit, maybe matsui, I am so sick of hearing these "a-rod is becoming a clutch player" things though becuase hes not. When it counts against the sox, he chokes. that simple.

so did the entire 04 team, but we, uh, we won't rub that in in the yankee thread.

Wow, awsome game, it was the only time I felt safe going into the ninth down 1, but man I was nervous on that 3-1 becuase Jorge got kocked up pretty bad(it a home plate colliton...pervets)and I wasn't sure he'd be able to get a hit, but he did me one better!! Lets hope that Wang can make it 8 shutout IP tonight, give me a different game to watch!!

I can just as easily say the World Series in 2000 was part of this century, just to split hairs.

i can say im banging jessica alba

we'd both be wrong

A rod hit it right on the nose, the had matthews in the right spot is all. As for jeter, that's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. How long have you known about baseball? A month?

arod is the biggest choke artist on the planet, bar none.

jetseys career avg with runners on base was discussed yesterday,ad nauseaum,he isnt hitting .050 with runners on after the 8th with the chance to tie or take the lead

as far as posada goes

that was the 1st time i saw him take on a base runner, usually he fields the ball closer to the pitchers mound, desperate times need desperate measures i guess

yeah but they hung 14.....amazing

they have some real warriors on that team led by their long eye lashed captain

the bottom of the order led by cano and cabrerra showed up large

damon had 3 hits and jeter went 4-5 including the money homerun in the 5th that brought them within 2 runs

last nites game paid for the entire season of my baseball package as far as im concerned

a great game

kind of reminded me of the ronnie lyle ernie shavers fight from the 70s

2 heavy weights with no way to stop the other guy from beating the s*** out of you

the only defense is a good offense....

1 for the ages for sure

as a matter of fact crunch it was one for the ages. this is positive proof that good teams always will find a way to win. we may joke, banter, poke fun of etc etc with our Number 1 rival but one thing is for sure...we will always have respect for them as a very good team.

I tip my cap to em for coming back like they did...not to say that I don't hope that they take the next one squarely in the face....I do...

as much as i worship each and every failure that organization brings to the table i am a big enough fan of the game to appreciate the fact that they have some outstanding ball players and make the game more enjoyable to watch

too bad about damons

(1)shoulder

(2)foot

no way he finishes the season without a trip to the dl

their outfield is now officially in shambles

We had a legitimate predicament to say the least. What Damon needs is a week of DHing, but with Giambi on the frits and sheffield bound to return (to strict DH duty for a few weeks), we wont have that luxury. After the Boston series, we have 3 vs KC, so maybe he could have solely pinch hitting duties in that series. Either way, Bubba is a very good 4th OFer who can hold his own, but if he is the CFer and Bernie and Melky flank him, we are in trouble. Sheff is 10X the RFer that Bernie is and sheff isnt even that good in right. What Damon needs to do is hold on until sheff can resume RF duties, then take a long stint as the DH. I'll tell you what, not having a sole DH this season is helping....

I completely agree with you. Our outfield is in one of the worst shapes I've seen since the Stump Merril days.

I take that back.

Roberto Kelly + Mell Hall + (Rookie) Bernie >>>>>> Melky Cabrera + Bubba Crosby + Old Bernie

the resurgence of the yankee organization in the 90s is directly related to the trade of roberto ""dont call me bobby"" kelly to cinci for paul oneil

jim bowden shouldve been assasinated for that move

Posted
actually the resurgence is directly due to Steinbrenner being suspended and Stick Michael building a farm system without George in the day to day operations.

agreed. jsing, trust me bro, tak about stuff you know. If you really thought for one second that George wasnt in touch with Michael on a regular basis, then I have some swamp land I'd like to sell you.....

Posted

george was barred from day to day activities and he couldnt sell his farm system like he did before and like hes done over the past 5 years

its no coincidence that baseball guys with the yanks infinite resources developed some great ball players while georgie was on sabbatical.

george isnt a baseball guy

he watches the games but has no concept of how its done on the team level.

hes a stat guy

he likes the shiny things

he has to have the best available player at each position or he loses sleep....

this is how chemistry and depth and the future get destroyed

last year he went out and re-assembled the 1998 allstar team and put them in pinstripes

now??

this team is farther away than they have been in 12 years and their future is based on who they can sign in the fall as hes got nothing coming up and no trade bait and hes saddled with some of the worst contracts in sports history on this current 25 man roster.

he has no patience with the young kids

he had no patience period

see vasquez contreras etc...

the best thing for the yankee future would be for george to have a stroke and get out of the hair of the baseball guys

100% agreed. the minute King George got his grubby claws back on the day to day he demoted the architect of one of the best farm systems in the 90's and made him nothing more than a scout. Even that wasn't good enough for the idiots in the Tampa office who wanted to strip even that title from Stick.

The treatment of Gene Michael by the Tampa Gang and his former backstabbing protegee is horrendous, and my only hope for Yankee salvation is that that fat bastard Connors has a stroke with George and both collapse on the other 3 members of their cartel.

Posted
well, let me just say that b George backing off and giving cash some leeway, we have already rebuilt the farm. We went from 30th in the league 3 yrs ago to upper teens right now. With the majority of our talent at the A level and 2 more 1st rounders this yr, you can expect this team to rebuild slowly. The yankees dont believe in drafting the college kids as their windows are smaller, but they will do the sustained, long road approach with the high schoolers....

Last night was amazing! I really couldn't beleive what was happening. It's great to see this team show some guts and (specifically the lineup that was out there) score some runs.

Does anybody know what happened to kevin brown?did he retire? Is he still under contract with yankees?

I was so angry. I've been so busy this week (concerts getting ready for prom, school, etc.) that I havent watched all the games from beginning to end, and I fell asleep after first pitch yesterday, woke up, saw the score was 10-5, and went back to sleep. s***, I missed something great. I was angry when I woke up this morning to find that I had missed it.

What is wrong with that chick(?)'s face in your avatar? Disgustor.

Anyway, A rod up with a RISP and 2 out. He will K or pop out, I'll say he k's.

I'm sure you'll get another oppurtunity to see it in the future; it's probably not long before its 'Yankees Classic' debut.

Wang had another strong start tonight.

8.0 IP, 3 R, 2 ER, 6 H, 1 BB, 3 K

He induced 3 DPs tonight, improved his record to 4 - 1, and lowered the ERA under 4.
