I also think Dotel is an underrated signing. He was a pretty good closer in Oakland' date=' and he can bring the heat, but I don't know anymore with his injury. He should be a decent setup man. I was hoping the Sox would get him under the table.[/quote']

I was expecting him to have a decrease in velocity, but reports out of the minors say that he is consistently at 95 mph. He has not thrown a breaking ball yet, though, so he is still about 2-3 weeks off. What is great is the fact that our pen without him has been ridiculously solid (aside from one huge bum). This means that when he returns, he'll be used sparingly until he gets his stamina. If we work him up to being game ready and ready to contribute on a daily basis by july or august, then this pen will theoretically shorten games to 5 innings....

are the yanks using a 4 man rotation at the moment? or are they just pushing back wright whenever they have the chance , cause i was looking at the stats today ,and before todays game wang ,johnson and mussina have 8 starts allready ,chacon has 6 and wright was just making his 4 start today

we had a lot of offdays to this point, so every time we had an offday, we'd move up the rotation. If Wright keeps pitching like this, though, we wont be moving anyone back....

Yeah Wright's a real stud:rolleyes: .. Ya think Torre will let him pitch against the Sox next week? I sure hope so.

Are you serious?? Theoretically shorten games to 5 innings? Yeah ok. So you are assuming Proctor will continue like he has pitched so far..I mean law of averages says he will start getting hit eventually.. But I agree, he is solid. Farnsworth? LOL> Why don't you save judgement for him until he gets in a tight game that means something. he singlehandedly BLEW the Division Series for the Braves last year and he was such a choker that he couldn't land the closer job for the CUBS ..yes the CUBS(who had the Worst Pen in baseball for the time Farsnsworth was there) GO ask a CUB fan who they did NOT WANT in there when the game was on the line and they will, to a man, answer Choker Farnsworth... He also couldn't beat out Chris Reitsma for the job on the Braves... Ditto with Tigers....the guy was basically given 3 closer roles and CHOKED his way out of all 3. And before you say he choked as a closer but should thrive as a set-p guy...He did most of his choking for the Cubs as a set-up guy.

Dotel? Throwing 95 is not surprising? DO you know anything about TJ surgery? It is not uncommon at all for pitchers to gain velocity after having the surgery. To have the same velocity is no big shocker. The test will be when he starts breaking off curves and sliders...THESE pitches twist that new tendon, torquing it and putting serious stress on it.

I think you are making some pretty brazen assumptions here. Rivera is good..but he is no sure thing..especially against the Red Sox.

Ron Villone? I am not even gonna go there..his illustrious track record speaks for himself.

Myers..good guy for 1 batter.. Hardly a game "shortener."

Man, you are the ULTIMATE Yankee "Fanboy."

The Eunuch is toast. He's getting slapped around by the puchless A's in the 1st. Leadoff walk, K, 2-run bomb (by a lefty), single, single, RBI ground-out..... 3 in, 2 down.

How bout this for optimism. That will be the last run Randy will allow. His velocity is there, his slider is breaking, and he is locating. The only hard hit ball was Kotsay's HR, which was a fault to the pitch call because Randy hit his spot. The other hits were little dinkers. He will finish this game strong....

You didnt just say he will finish the game did you?

I shouldnt have. I meant to say he would finish strong. He isnt finishing this game unless it is rain shortened....

are you watching the game? Granted, he just threw a cockshot on 1-2 and it got ripped for a single, but for the most part he is hitting his spots. The only problem is that he is getting stolen on like crazy....

No, he isn't. He's probably thrown one good pitch all game, which was the slider to Swisher.

The stolen base in the first had no meaning. Even if he doesn't score on Payton's grounder, Kendall's double scores him.

Let's not forget that the A's lineup blows. No Chavez. No Thomas and the #7 hitter hasn't hit a HR in a couple of years.

BTW Unit blows too. He's shot and by August he'll be a BP pitcher.
