well, Wright was nasty today, but Torre left him in too long. Combine a horrible hitting day with bad D and you get a loss. We need to rebound tomorrow. The good part of the pen should be fresh...

82 pitches is too long?

Absolutely. That way one can carry on with the fantasy that the team rarely "loses", but the manager does "give games away".

I've been impressed with Wright recently. As his routine has become more consistent (as opposed to going 6+ days in between starts) he has improved.

Gator also challenged him as he did RJ. Last start, after wright screwed the pooch in inning #1, Guidry came out to the mound and was very animated. He was challenging him, he was probably saying,

IF YOU HAVE ANY f***ING BALLS YOU FAIRY YOU WILL TRUST YOUR GODDAMN FASTBALL, HOW BOUT THIS, YOU GIVE ME THE f***ING BALL AND I'LL PUT TOGETHER A BETTER GAME THAN YOU, YOU f***ING PANSY, TAKE OFF YOUR SKIRT, YOU MAKE ME SICK!!!!

Maybe I embellished a bit, but I actually got that talking to in college when my coach came to the mound, so why not...

Carl Pavano couldn't straighten his arm Thursday after leaving his rehab start Wednesday with right triceps tightness.

Pavano said he didn't know he'd do next. "No idea. But as far as pitching, I don't think that's the next step at all," he said. The Yankees shouldn't be expecting any sort of positive contribution from Pavano this year. "It's a shutdown right now, actually," manager Joe Torre said. "... When you have problems as early as he did last night we certainly have to make sure that there's no discomfort before you proceed." May. 18 - 7:41 pm et

atleast pavano's been able to stay healthy since signing with the yankees

A prediction: His arm will fall off before July.

the words dominate and jamie moyer are never used in the same sentence because he doesnt dominate

he pitches well when hes in a jam

rj used to dominate

martinez used to dominate etc....

wang has pitched well this year, dominating maybe a stretch but pitching well he has done

Fair enough.

wow

this team is realing as far as injuries go

y'all bust on torre as we do too but last year,in my opinion, was his best year as a manager

this year??

can it get any worse for him??

what next?

the teams plane crash?

injuries expose weaknesses but sometimes turn them into strengths

last year wang wouldve been dealt at the allstar break for some shitbag had he not been brought up becuase of wright and pavano being shelved

same for the sox

i dont think paple shows up last year if foulke and schill were healthy

who knows

somewhere somebody in that organization can fill a starters role

aaron small?

he had his 15 minutes last summer.......this year?

his era is a couple inches lower than my waist size

cant wait for petey and mussina...they had some epic duels over the years

Wright belonged out there in the 7th, but he should have been on a short leash. After the HR, he should have been pulled. His subsequent HBP really bit us hard as he later scored. Since he was on base and not out, technically it would have made the game 2-0 at that point instead of 4-0. Torre has the problem of giving his pitchers tons of rope, and that is warranted with some pitchers, but when you are dealing with Wright, it isnt. Wright needs to be watched meticulously, because he is the type of pitcher who could be throwing a no-hitter through 5 then give up 10 runs ithe 6th.

Small is a weird situation. Last yr, I remember him blowing up as a reliever (especially game 3 of the alds) but when he started his own messes, he cleaned them up. His problem this yr is that he seems to have lost his balls. The guy has terrible stuff, but he has the guts to throw it up and in at times and keeps hitters honest. This yr, he is leaving everything out over the plate and is getting nailed. If he has confidence in his stuff and decides to take back the inside part of the plate, then he'll be fine. I know he gained some leeway last yr, but I wouldnt be surprised if this is his last chance. The yankees have Mendoza in the minors, and he finally looks like the Mendoza we lost rather than the guy the sox had. We also have a young kid who pitched well for the Nationals last yr in Darrell Rasner, a young sinkerballer. Both of those guys will be up at some point this yr unless Small can hold down his spot. If he screws the pooch again, I wouldnt be surprised if he is cut free....

ramiro mendoza?

he broke into baseball with tiant fidel castro tony oliva and tony perez

the only game he pitched well in over the last 3 years was a saturday afternoon game against the yanks and i think ny left 11 men on in 5 innings.

i thought he got deported because his green card expired

small was a career stiff

he had his moment in the sun last season and this season hes back to form

Yankees placed outfielder Bubba Crobsy on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring.

Crosby picked a bad time for his first significant injury as a major leaguer, but the Yankees don't lose much more with him unavailable. Melky Cabrera and Bernie Williams will get most of the starts at the outfield corners until Gary Sheffield returns. May. 19 - 3:30 pm et

Crosby, Sheffield and Matusi all on the DL

with Damon playing injured

your outfielders are dropping like flies. yankees really need Melky to step up.
