yea im thinking exactly so---theyre saying oh yeah hanley right now is only batting .268 in pawtucket with 2 homeruns 15 RBIs, ok but vazquez up in the big leagues is just batting .200 with 4 runs batted in, and even his defensive plays are off at times

Moving a guy who's struggling at AA to the big leagues is absolutely not the answer. This kid's young and has a ton of potential, and he needs to work the kinks out of his game. How in the hell is he going to do that while riding the pine in Boston? He's at least a year away from contributing in the big leagues, and he needs his development.

Pedroia isn't on the 40 man roster which means that someone would have to be released for him them to add him.

Bad news for the AL East. A.J said he wouldn't sign an extention with any team he gets traded to... except Baltimore, apparently his wife grew up in Baltimore and they have family there. That sucks if he gets traded there the last thing we need is for Baltimore to get pitching.

I've heard two rumors now that Payton could be part of a AJ Burnett deal but it sounds like it would involve more than one team. Payton and 1-2 more things may be going somewhere then relief help would actually go to Florida...then Burnett may come here....god I hope thats true.

Payton doesn't necessarily have a designated OF position, right? I don't think I've seen him play LF, but I'd assume he'd be happy in CF or RF. If Payton went to Florida, I don't see him starting in right because of Miguel Cabrera's .336 BA to go along with 61 RBI and 16 HR. In CF, the Marlins have Juan Pierre, who's a career .307 hitter so thinking about it, if Payton wants playing time, Florida may not be the ideal place unless he wants to continue being another fourth OFer.

 

Back to the Brew Crew and getting Overbay, what trade would work? They probably have too deep of an OF for Payton to be involved in a trade. I look through Milwaukee's farm system, and they don't really have anything special at the catching position in AAA or AA, so if we wanted Overbay, since we have V-tek and Mirabelli locked up for a while, Shoppach and others in a deal could be possible.

The Florida Marlins have interest in Bronson Arroyo, Daniel Cabrera, and Gustavo Chacin. It seems the Marlins like Chacin but I'm not sure Burnett would be willing to go to Toronto. The Orioles haven't explored the idea too much thinking Cabrera is a future star with his velocity.

 

John Henry has made it no secret he likes AJ Burnett. Now I know this will get everyone going but I would deal Arroyo for Burnett. I really like Arroyo but when it comes down to it.....Burnett is just better. About the same age but the ceiling for Burnett is much higher.

Sounds like Burnett is very close to being traded to Baltimore. The deal would be, A.J. Burnett for RP Jorge Julio, SP Hayden Penn and OF Larry Bigbie.

On a Yankee forum, nyyfans.com, that there was a report on ESPNEWS that the Marlins and Red Sox have agreed in principle to a deal to trade AJ Burnett to the Sox for Shoppacch, Arroyo, and another prospect. I didn't see it so I personally can't vouch for that but did anyone else see this or has anyone else heard this rumor?

ESPN Radio doing the game just said there are rumors flying that the Sox have made a deal, but they can't confirm and will not say what it is.

 

Dave Campbell then said: "There is also a rumor spreading like wildfire here at Fenway Park about the Sox making a deal. We have no confirmation, so we will not report it."

There is talk on a Marlins board (someone with "sources" of course) of a three-way going down with San Diego and Boston that is only waiting on Theo to flip Millar to Houston for Qualls, which has been floating for a week now, to finalize it. Burnett and Lowell would come to Boston......Arroyo and Shoppach to San Diego.....Abe Alvarez to Florida along with Sean Burroughs.

I can't find a good Marlins site with anymore information that we're getting right now from NYYfans.com... I've looked at a few, but nothing much on a possible trade. The catch is of this all is the Marlins want to include Lowell and his 3 years, $25M in a trade so they can dump him off somewhere.
