  1. Couldn't agree more.... Youk deserves a chance, give him more grounders during practice and get him ready to play some 2B and get AB's.... He's already proved he is capable or playing and hitting big league pitching...
  2. Way to replace the .215 hitting Bellhorn with the .199 hitting Cora... I'm in the camp for giving Hanley or Pedroia a shot during the next couple weeks to see what they have....
  3. did MLB say it was a done deal? I know the article for the times said a MLB aid.... is that what your referring to or is there something new?
  4. I am not pro bringing Hanley up to the Sox now, but I think it is interesting to note he is playing 2nd base again today for Portland. I think the Sox are certainly looking at both Pedroia and Rameriz to play 2B at somepoint, be in it in the near term or September call up for a shot to play some 2B if Bellhorn doesn't break out of his slump a bit. Just an observation...
  5. Also interesting to note that Hanley Ramirez was playing 2B last night and not SS. Hanley is on the 40 man roster and Dustin Pedroia is not, and I think in all likelihood we could see Hanley given a shot at 2B shortly rather than Pedrioa. Just an observation after seeing Hanley playing 2B last night and the fact that it would take another roster move to put Dustin on the 40 man roster.
  6. Are they actually tearing the old stadium down? I heard they were going to use it for youth baseball in the area, though I could be wrong...
  7. Per this morning's Boston Globe. Hansen soon? General manager Theo Epstein wouldn't confirm a rumor that draft pick Craig Hansen was in Boston Friday to be medically evaluated, which, if accurate, could mean the team is approaching a deal with the former St. John's University closer who was rated No. 1 on at least one major league team's 2005 draft board. Hansen fell to the Sox, picking at No. 26, largely because he was expected to be a tough sign. He has been, though Epstein sounded more optimistic yesterday than he did earlier in the week. ''We're making a lot of progress," said Epstein, who emphasized that there's no deal at this time. Johnny Damon, who, like Hansen, is represented by superagent Scott Boras, said Hansen toured Fenway Park Friday with one of Boras's associates. The Sox are expected to make an exception by signing Hansen to a major league contract. He'd probably need to sign this month to have any chance to help the club this season. He'd most likely begin his pro career with Double A Portland.
  8. MLB aide: Sox will get Burnett Marlins righthander A.J. Burnett will be traded to the Red Sox within a week, an MLB official said yesterday. Boston plans to sign Burnett to an extension. Red Sox special assistant Bill Lajoie watched Burnett's outing Thursday in Philadelphia, when he allowed six runs in five innings, including second-inning homers to Pat Burrell, Ryan Howard and Mike Lieberthal. Burnett is 5-6 with a 3.64 ERA in 18 starts this season. "There is no truth at all to any deal we are making with the Marlins," Sox GM Theo Eptein said via an E-mail. Adam Rubin and Roger Rubin NY Daily News Take it for what you will.....
