  1. Are minor league splits available? Does anybody know if Campbell hit lefties better than righties in AAA last year?
  2. You will have guys whose stock will raise as the season progresses and guys whose stock will fall. We'll adjust to the twists and turns as best we can like every team.
  3. Entertainment?
  4. Who I would play where depends on variables. Im more of a think on my feet guy than have every potential possibility planned out. What if Masa is hitting .830 OPS on the year and Campbell is hitting .690 in AAA.
  5. Teams: we like to be positionally versatile and have some ML ready talent parked in AAA, and handle depth that way. Fans : if player x gets hurt, then player y gets hurt the plan would be to do this, then that, then this. Its not that specific. There are no "of the futures" there are no set in stone roadmaps of how to handle : if Mayer struggles, and then abreu is dinged and needs a night off and theres a righty on the mound - heres how they will look. They dont have options A,B,C,D,E on the depth chart. And if they do, its suggestions/loose. Teams wannt to be versatile enough to shift and roll with the punches in 2026. Breslow literally told you one of the reasons he got Durbin was because he can play 2b OR 3b. But fans try to pencil it all in positionally.
  6. Because versatility is good and they want to keep that as an option. How much OF Masa will get , like most things, right now is a giant TBD. Penciling in depth charts and wanting to plan for all these outcomes is a fan thing. Teams are trying to be versatile and deep to cover a bunch of "ifs" NOT have a roadmap for how they will handle every "if" Its all fluid.
  7. Whether or not Masa will play some OF this year depends on a lot of variables, things we cant predict today. And its not just injuries either. There is a chance that Roman adds 20 lbs and is your DH and slugs 45 HRs. Would that be good or bad? Spoiler: it would be good.
  8. There is evidence that they want Masa to play some OF (and even some 1B), there is no proof of it; however, because evidence is a much lower bar. Personally, I think they want Masa as OF (and 1B) depth and its easier to carry him on 26 man roster if he can pick up an OF / 1B glove if needed. There is simply no need to make these decisions right now. I think its more "fluid" then fans generally believe, as Ive noticed fans generally like clean/established....For example the label "of the future". Teams dont pen in like that.
  9. I havent seen anyone outside of Fred, be cartoonish level, negative. Im not super into game threads, and I believe there may be more examples of it there. Regarding if this Red Sox forum is especially negative vs other RS forums vs other team forums vs other sports forums....I dont think you are a particularly great person to ask. I generally post here and on a Celtics forum, and that Celtics forum is a ton more negative than this place. But thats also a low sample size.
  10. Okay, Ill give you that. But in-game anxiety isnt exactly a this place only thing. And Im not too active on game threads because Im usually watching games with friends over or out and about. So I dont see that as much. When I do read up on game threads, I agree it seems to be a different mix of posters and more negative, but again, a lot of that is anxiety and defensive mechanisms against it (which towel waving is, right?)
  11. I do, and I think its a function of you not "foruming" into other sports. I can link you to a couple Celitcs forums where they are talking about how the celtics are the worst run team in NBA. You havent seen cartoonish level negativity outside of Fred. This place , overall, is extremely homer. Even to the point of inserting demonstrably false recollections of key offeseason events because they get in the way of the "Breslow knows what he is doing" narrative. The team , the Red Sox team, right now, is solid but vulnerable to injuries to our 4-5 solid bats. But Im talking more about the "heres what I choose to believe what happened...." You have a forum cheering when your key players opt out , cheering salary dumps, cheering undervaluing the market. It all shows hometown slant. I, for one, have a huge hometown slant. At least thats what they tell me in the celtics forums.
  12. Great case for shortening the season right there. Whats even the point?
  13. I wouldnt want to be behind a smelly butt fart either
  14. 1 yr vs more? I like Suarez and I think what saves it for me is that Gray is only going to be here 1 yr. If Gray was 27 and signed to 5 yrs , Id be like that Ranger deal was super unnecessary.
  15. I think it was same day (maybe after midnight so technically next day) as Pujols deal too. Great day to be a Rangers fan haha.
  16. Nobody believed Austin Riley that he wasnt a pitcher and even Austin Riley started having doubts. He just really hated it, but was good at it and was a better pitcher in college than hitter/3rd baseman. The Braves were the only team wiling to take him in first 2 rounds as a positoin player, everyone else wanted him to pitch. And his minor league career got off to a rocky start and his phone blew up every day , friends telling him, just be a pitcher. I know you hate it but you are so good at it.
  17. I think Contreras was preferred over Alonso because he couldnt fit Bregman with Alonso. I think they were non competitive on Alonso/Bichette because they had the money earmarked for Bregman. I dont think they had a plan B. I think they liked Ranger and kicked the tires on him. I think it was pure reactionary, "oh crap". And I think Tolle is better (right now).
  18. I think Tolle is better than both Suarez and Gray but I think both Suarez and Gray are better than Bello, Early, Harrison, Oviedo. Kutter - Im not sure who we are going to get and how healthy he will stay. Tolle is already looking like a boss this year. If Suarez or Gray bump Tolle, I think they will have made this team worse.
  19. I think he revolved his whole plan around Bregman while he double dog dared Bregman to take the cubs offer because his temper/ego get in his way. I do agree that we may be better off, but I completely disagree that it was ever a designed "walk point". I believe the account that they all thought they had Bregman back until Bregman walked. I believe that they didnt believe the cubs offer existed.
  20. I agree, Betts and Schwarber and DEFINITELY Dlowe (my boy). OVerall not bad. But Betts is the giant black eye. Beltre sure, but thats hindisght. Youk was so established so it was Beltre or AGON and we chose wrong but it wasnt quite like the others because at least the letting him walk was defendable
  21. HAHAHA, Ill concede to you on this one. The Angels dysfunction is consistently at a level that nobody else in baseball can get to. They are the Nets of the MLB
  22. I dont think JH is the problem or financial "misers" at FSG. I think, more likely, JH is an old man in a rocking chair.
