Breslow has been an absolute trainwreck. Future looked bright under Bloom. Now we're riding the struggle bus, and I cant even root for a turnaround from an organization led by a pompous jerk. Just listening to an interview recently , he was going on about how hes the boss and he gets final call. Breslow insults people to their face and is a bad human. These are bigger reasons why we stink. He botched multiple key relationships and the team we have is full of pivots and consolation prizes. I am actively rooting against these jerks until Breslow is gone.

I dont agree with the max efficiency approach. It works under flawed assumptions that there will always be a supply of quality available guys to use budget savings. Now a days, guys are getting locked up and its harder to make use of excess budget, both FA and trade. In addition, I do not think that all future years should be weighed equally. I believe in a cyclical approach that contains a phase where long term is prioritized and a distinct phase where a shorter term outlook is used (aka "a window"), when in a window, I think you have to be scared to take on some overall negative value contracts to help in the short term.

Im jsut saying that Im shy to assign value/production on a 1:1 with WAR . To me , that stat doesnt exist (one that can be the be all / end all). I think WAR is fine but when everyone starts using it to grade contracts and chase efficiency, thats how you wind up with a team that cant hit. Because I dont care what a DH's WAR is. Yordan Alvarez and a handful of other DHs would change our entire team.

Still, it would be nice to have one elite hitter and Im going to keep pining for one until we get one externally or internally. And of the list of elite hitters, lets say top 20 wrc+ , Devers is one of the least likely to obtain.....So not pining for him, but I am saying that I consider Devers when I justify my disgust for Breslow. Not because I think Breslow can go get him back, but because the issue was smoothed over when Devers was traded....And I do think that he would have helped in the yankees series last year and thus far this year, even though his SF numbers may stink. Trading Devers was part of the problem, but Devers is not part of the solution. If Hous firesales, Im very interested in Yordan.
