Would pivetta use this QO to negotiate a multi year deal??? Three years seems like an eternity to sign him. He serves up more meatballs than Olive Garden!!!!
his biggest injury risk is whip lash from wanting all the taters he serves up leave the stadiums
This move hurts us for the 2025 playoffs if he accepts
The outfield has
left handed batter Duran in left field. Defense is average plus. Had a great year offensively. Speed to burn. 4 more years of control! Is he a core member of our team going forward or is he a one year wonder?
Right handed batter rafeala in centerfield. Defense is above average. Has a lot to work on offensively and chasing bad pitches. Above average speed. Signed a long term contract earlier this year. will the bat improve if he plays one position in 2025?
left handed batter abreau in right field. Defense is above average. Had a decent year with the bat, but huge splits and should sit versus lefties. Average speed. 5 years of control. Is he an ascending player or trade bait?
right handed bat refsynder. Below average to decent defender. Had a decent year with the bat. Huge splits, hits lefties well! Below average to decent speed. Will he retire or play out the contract?
The elephant in the room is left handed bat Anthony! Defense is average. The bat had the potential to be outstanding. Speed is average plus. Only 20 years old! Does he start the year in Worcester ????
Outfield looks to be positioned well for the next 5 years with Montgomery and Gracia in the pipeline!
At the start of free agency we have the following starting pitchers on the 40 man roster
sp1 - Houk.
sp2 - bello
sp3 - giolito
sp4 - crawford
sp5 - Criswell
sp6 - fitts
sp7 - Priester
sp8 - winkleman
sp9 - mata
sp10 - perales
I see us needing a sp1 and sp2 in order to move to make the playoffs in 2025.
My first choice is free agent fried. But maybe he is too expensive for us.
I believe we acquire the other starter via the trade route, but understand we have to give quality to get quality
His long swing should be trouble, but he makes a lot of contact.
I have Anthony, Campbell, teel and Mayer in my big four.
but we have a potentially awesome big 4 (part two) Montgomery, arias, cespedes and either blies or Garcia or meidroth
2024 has the potential to be the best group of prospects since the 2013 group!!!
and you forgot to add Montgomery to the list. I think he is going to have a great season in 2025.
Off season to do list
1.) trade yoshida and cash to Arizona for Montgomery
2.) sign fried
3.) trade for Bryce miller or Braxton Ashcroft.
4.) sign 2 quality bullpen arms. (One lefty)
5.) with a backup catcher
this is a 90 win team if we do this.
Because huge spends on free agents is not a sustainable model. add in injuries and the model is completely broken.
Giolito, Whitlock and story’s injuries were devastating in 2024.
big free agent spends is yesterday’s model.
I see us taking the internal pipeline with a few moderate free agent signings as our path to a sustainable model
If bres-slow goes hard after crochet and he leaks it to the press, is that enough to get Seattle or Pittsburgh interested in trading young starting pitching for some of our really talented hitting prospects????
I think our days of being a big spender are over. The farm system will continue to churn out 2 - 3 prospects per year and only the absolute best will get the QO.
we are the waiver wire kings for now on
