  1. my comment on Crawford was simply in jest and a reaction to the fact that 1-2 year deals are pretty much what the Sox have been doing for the past few years. Personally I could care less if the Sox spend big on FA's. For example there is no chance I would sign Bregman for any more than 3 years and there would be NO opt out clause whatsoever. I don't mind Bichette for 5 years given he is only 28 and is a good player who can fill a hole for us. But if we go into 2026 with our current roster I'm fine with that but save us the reports that we are in on this guy and that guy and then get none of them. as for payroll when we were once 2-3 and are now 8-10 and have missed the postseason 4 of the past 6 years after JH stated his goal was to compete for a WS EVERY YEAR.- that I have an issue with. The current team even with Bregman added is not a true contender IMO.
  2. i think Bichette would probably be a pretty safe bet but if we are not in on a guy like that I guess we won't be in on any big name FA's for a while.
  3. are you trying to suggest i wanted Yoshida ???? I hated the signing from day and was very vocal about it at the time.
  4. then why have we missed the playoffs 4 of the last 6 years?
  5. and then there are the fans like you that defend JH to no end despite 4 non playoff seasons in the past 6 years. Not mention that the Red Sox are one of the very top revenue making teams in MLB yet the payroll has dropped from a top 3 to somwhere between 8-12 without a single FA signing to date.
  6. Cutter Crawford signs--you guessed it a 1 yr contract
  7. way to cover your you know what lol
  8. when did I say anything about the NYY P? Saying that though Cole before his injury was a far better P than Sandavol ever was. Also IMO Crawford is a reasonably low bar to compare to. i think his RELATIVE success was due at least in part to his unique short arm delivery. Nonetheless overall I think our rotation is in decent shape If we go into the season as we are now I think we win 87-90 games.
  9. what is with all this love for Sandoval?? guy hasn't thrown a pitch for us and some have him as our #3 or 4 and here you are saying we lost our #5 last yr when it was already expected he would all or almost all of 2025
  10. i don't have an issue with Moon. Seems like a decent guy but yeah some of posts are a bit long. I generally don't read all of them as a result.
  11. this is a pointless argument Moon. You bounce all over the place. In one post you are critical of JH not spending enough and then your very next post you are saying he spends plenty. I do agree that we have made poor choices on our FA signings as a rule but don't throw Hicks into your argument. Sox were forced into taking his contract as a payoff for offloading the entire Devers money. I watched Hicks stink in Toronto and said from day 1 I hated adding him. Like Yoshida no-one will take either.
  12. none since 2018 and only 2 postseason appearances. Do they WS titles in the early 2000's give JH a pass for as long as he owns the team ?
  13. Given that Henry has owned the team since the very early 2000's that is a weak argument.
  14. Sox are not signing Suarez or Bichette. There is about a 20% chance that they are able to wait out Bregman since he seems to want too return. There is also no chance of adding a #2 SP either.
  15. no i am just frustrated at the constant mediocrity. FA apologists like you are just content with it. I used to live and die on the Sox and watch 90% of their games on MLB package. But as far as I am concerned until JH shows he cares about actually winning again I have cancelled my MLB package {3 yrs ago} and as I live in Canada I will watch them when they play the Jays and on Fox game of the week and Sunday night baseball BUT I WILL NOT PAY A DIME to watch them anywhere else. JH should be upset about how longtime fans about the last 6 years but as long as there are fans like you he has nothing to worry about. 84-90 wins again this yr and an early out if we qualify for the post season.
  16. I don't know about you but I am sick of SIX years of mediocrity
  17. Well since DD was fired in the 6 years since our record is 442-428 with 2 playoff appearances. Remember JH has stated a number of times that his goal and mission was for the Red Sox to compete for a WS EVERY YEAR !! At best we have been true contenders once maybe twice if you count last year {I don't} I feel that we have basically tread water these past 6 years and as of this date there has been very little to change that. Personally I could care less if we spend another dime. I don't believe for a second that JH has the same passion as he did before firing DD and as a result as a fan I don't have same passion I did as a LIFETIME Red Sox fan. Put Mayer at 3B and a combo of Romy/Hamilton at 2B and let's get on with it but for God Sakes stop saying we have interest in every decent FA out there.
  18. yeah because those guys are comparable alright. The Yoshida signing was a disaster from day 1 and is killing the team now.,
  19. you conveniently forget to include the other guys now off the books. EG: Gioloto $$ basically cover Gray's $$, Currently there is 71 million off last yr's payroll with Devers and Bregman gone. Even if they sign Bregman for 25 million that still saves 15 million plus Devers. And yes I know several players like Anthony are getting raises but almost all MLB teams have similar. There is no way I sign Bregman for any more than 3 yrs with possibly a MUTUAL 4th yr and NO opt outs unless of course the team gets one too.
  20. that should take the Sox out of it then. No way I give Bregman 6 yrs
