    Quit dreaming. Sox are NOT getting Greene. How many SP do we need ?? Yes Greene would be nice but it should have come before the 2 new additions we got. Get to work Craig on scouring the options to add a bat you can acquire on a 1 yr deal.

    As a Red Sox fan since the 70's I would like to cheer for players who are more than 1 year rentals. Then even if they have a good season they usually want longer term deals and walk away only to be replaced by the next season's 1-2 yr rentals. The other thing that pi$$es me off to no end is the constant "oh we're going for it this yr" and the rumoured " Sox are interested in this guy' only to watch him go sign elsewhere and the Sox get the next 1 year guy.. If we going to just build from with-in our farm system then fine but then we end up more 1 yr rentals/stopgaps. Did I say I hate all these 1 yr signings?

    what so many Red Sox fans can't understand is why a big revenue team always has to shop for one and two year deals but never for top FA'S? The team wasn't that far away from truly competing but many of the opportunities to truly improve are dwindling away since we don't seem to ever want to sign anyone to a long term deal?

    i never said I wanted him. My point was that ARZ was looking for SP and just signed one which could affect any possible Marte trade.

    Sox have not had great results from a number of Japanese players in the past. They can't get rid of one of them fast enough. Why your interest in unproven {at least in MLB} players from overseas? I would prefer proven MLB talent.

    so Joe who DO you want the Sox to acquire as the list of guys "they were interested in" is dwindling by the day. Arizona signed Merrill Kelly last night which is a step to addressing their SP needs. Not sure if that changes their desire to trade Marte if he is one you are interested in.

    He certainly wasn't that successful a RP in Toronto when they picked him up. Yeah he throws 100 but it must be straight as an error because he is no longer effective.

    you are not factoring in the salaries I mentioned that we are shedding that cover most if not all or more than the guys you mention. Buehler, Gioloto, and Bregman alone are close to 80 million. And salaries go up every year so 250 million in 2025 is not the same in 2026. The FACTS are that the Sox have the 10th highest payroll in MLB where they once were in the top 2-4. This despite having one of the top revenue clubs there is.

    Gray 21 million--same as we paid Gioloto last year = WASH Hicks 12 million-complete waste of money--DFA immediately The majority of Anthony's extension is eaten up by the departure of guys like May, Matz, Refsynder, Buehler,, Hendriks and a few others. Also Bregman at this point is gone and even if he resigned it certainly won't be 40 million per LIKE I SAID--WHERE IS THE DEVERS $$ BEING SPENT?? I guess according to you the Sox have no flexibility to sign any decent FA's??

    Even if we do sign Bregman that only gets us back to where we ended 2025. Others in the AL East are getting better. No way do I give Bregman 5 years either. He already took us for 40 million this past season for 2/3 of the year. BTW-what happened to the $$$ saved on the Devers dump/fire sale?

    he didn't excite me either but he is likely better than anything we will get. Who is left that will take a 1 year deal?
