  1. i only said "word is" because it was a long time ago and I don't recall the exact details.
  2. that is my point. I ask the question of those bashing Devers--would you rescind that trade today??
  3. just what we need-another OFer
  4. i guess Cora was just sticking up for him then?
  5. just my little knowledge I would consider our C as mid level in MLB at best
  6. yeah better to overpay in a trade for him than to simply spend some of JH's $$
  7. try listening to the Bastards of Boston podcast. i think they speak for the vast majority of Sox fans. Best line so far "will John Henry ever be able to smoke a cigar in public in Boston again?"
  8. i don't get your logic at all and will only respond how are better at C? CV regressed badly in the 2nd half after a strong start and Wong is still our backup. As for SS we still have the same guy who finally had a decent yr. Do you suddenly expect him to improve given his age?? And you expect Chapman to be better than he was closing than last yr?? Sorry your logic doesn't wash with me. I could care less how we started 2025 only how we compare today with how we finished 2025.
  9. I don't think it is a sure thing Bo gets more than 6 years. That only puts him at 34 at the end. Maybe he asks for opt outs after say 3 or 4 yrs. That would give him a chance for 1 more big contract. I doubt very much that we sign him anyway. I think he ends up in Philly.
  10. had we of just kept Devers we probably still made the post season PLUS the fact we would have had 40 million to spend on other areas so I don't agree with your point.
  11. how many years ago was that?
  12. in case you didn't see it Marte is apparently off the market now
  13. keep defending the FO. They are doing such a great job so far.
  14. in hindsigt YES. I certainly don't think he was worth 40 million. I also think it was badly handled with Devers. Yes Devers overreacted after he ALLEGEDLY refused to play 1B but I am pretty sure that I read/heard somewhere that Cora said he never asked him. to play 1B. I am not defending Devers at all but I don't really recall being a bad team-mate BEFORE Bregman arrived. Terrible defensive 3B yes but not a real bad team-mate. And now we have neither and your hope is to sign Suarez who overall is not as good a player as Devers and will cost close to the same $$. So YES in hindsight signing Bregman was a mistake and not even getting a comp pick makes it even worse.
  15. Not me. Bregman is all about the $$ and I would have not matched that. What I would do is go as high as 6 years and 200 million for Bo who I think is at least as good a player and is 4 years younger. I know signing him is a pipe dream though and it won't happen. I also think someone will overpay for Suarez too and after all how much is a weak fielding 3B who will hit about .230 and maybe 35 HR and K a ton?? We have lost Devers who was good for 35 Hr's and a much better avg and a similar glove for a guy who will likely cost close to the same as Suarez will get. All for 2/3 of a 40 million dollar season from Bregman. And people slam Devers for being a bad teammate. I don't recall hearing he was a bad teammate before Bregman was signed. As for a #2 SP the Sox feel they got that from Gray. I guess we will see. They are also counting on Sandavol and Otavio to fill out the rotation along with Bello and Crawford as a #6/swing guy. I can't wait to listen to the Bastards of Boston podcast today to hear their views.
  16. I have said along that we SHOULD go 5 or even 6 years on Bo given he is only about to turn 28. I also know we won't be signing him. 5 years on Bregman was too long IMO. At this point I don't care if we sign anyone. What I DO care is if we trade one of our top SP prospects for someone like Donovan. You make it sound like I am the only Red Sox fan that is upset about how the offseason has gone FOR AT LEAST 3 YEARS NOW. I am 100% convinced that all JH cares about now is making sure the Sox field a REASONABLE AND DECENT team and his revenues stay strong His promise of the Sox fielding a WS contender EVERY YEAR has RUNG HOLLOW.
  17. SO now we will be good in 2030?? Awesome.
  18. are you kidding me. It would take a boatload of the Sox top prospects to get Skubal. Think of a package consisting of Duran, Romero, Early , and Witherspoon or Tolle just to get the discussion started. Then after the year ends Skubal walks as a FA because JH won't buck up.
  19. worst thing is we don't even get a comp pick for letting Bregman walk. Well done CB.
  20. Joe Brady told us we were 8th in payroll
  21. he's also one of the worst fielding 3B in all of MLB but hey he has power even though he k's a ton but he will be much cheaper than our other so-called targets this offseason. Still doubt very much we sign him. Bichette would be a far better signing as he is a much better player and fits our window age wise. God knows after dumping Devers and missing out on Bregman surely we could afford Bo. I'm not fooling my self though. There is about a 2% chance of signing BO and no more than 20% chance IMO of signing Suarez either. I mean I've lost track of how many so-called targets the Sox have missed out on so far. In no particular order: Alonso Schwarber Bregman Marte Palonco Did I miss anyone??
