  1. and now Breslow will trade 1 of our top SP prospects for Donovan
  2. No chance of that. More likely to trade Early, Tolle, or Witherspoon for Donovan. BTW you beat me on this post by 1 minute.
  3. honestly what does one have to do with the other?
  4. i was referring to Gioloto but not Chapman. Forgot Gioloto got injured in ST but nonetheless gave us LESS than a full season. The others WERE injured long term when we signed them.
  5. the only reason those pitchers got 2 years was because the first year they could not pitch due to injury and as a result were signifigant dumb overpays.
  6. He might get 2 yrs but I doubt it is from the Red Sox unless the $$ bare lower than what you are predicting-- 15-16 million per MAX
  7. MLB FA is just a complete joke. All the other major sports FA moves along MUCH MUCH quicker than baseball does. Sox are simply waiting out to sign the last man standing on a 1 yr deal with maybe a 2nd yr option. In the meantime they will sign a few M/L FA's like they did yesterday. If they actually add someone decent in FA it will be around March 15th.
  8. guy is 34 now. weak glove. will be lucky to get a 1 yr with a mutual 2nd yr option. If he signs with the Sox it likey won't be till ST is pending.
  9. your last sentence says a lot
  10. i agree those are the likely 2 options. 1] Suarez on a last minute team friendly 1 yr deal or 2} a Donovan trade for 1 of our top 3 SP prospects.. Either way nothing likely to happen for a while yet.
  11. We do anyway as it is. Fans like myself have been waiting {not so} patiently for 3 months now with nothing other than Sonny Gray and Contreras as so called "players we are interested in" [Alonso, Schwarber, Marte and the Japanese guys and others} have all come off the board. Now we likely have to overpay to bring Bregman back or he will be gone too. I very much doubt we are at all in on Bichette and Breslow is simply waiting to see who is the warm body standing he can snag on a 1 yr deal. Tell me I am wrong.
  12. way too much-pass. let someone else have him. he only cares about the $$$
  13. why do anything to satisfy the fans. Hell they dont help pay your bills. We will be just fine if the next 6 years are the same as the last 6.
  14. i think your latter statement is more likely but if he s still out there when ST hits I could certainly see the Sox signing him for 1 yr at a discounti
  15. they might try to tell they are but MOST of us on here know they are not., Now if they could get Skubal-lol
  16. well Marte is off the market so do you still trade Witherspoon for say Donovan who its likely too be the next so called Sox target?
  17. MLBTR just posted that Marte WILL NOT be traded so there goes another Sox "target" off the board. Talk will now switch to Donovan lol.
  18. Sox fans need to stop dreaming about getting Skubal. No chance in he$$ JH will buck up the ## needed for him. and given how much and how long a deal it would take I can't really disagree with him on this one.
  19. not me. i could care less if we get Marte or not. For years we/I have wanted top young SP prospects and now that we have them I'm not dealing them. I see Early and hopefully Witherspoon in our rotation and Tolle as our closer. Also I really don't want to trade Abreu or Duran either.
  20. IMO it makes very little sense to trade the assets that would be needed for Marte rather than just sign Bichette or Bregman. If they do trade for Marte it will be all about the $$$
  21. Witherspoon is another that needs to stay. Crawford, Sandavol, or the guy we got from Pittsburgh could be candidates to trade along with on OF and KC.
  22. he is only a perfect fit if he can get him at a reasonable trade cost not involving Tolle, Early, Witherspoon , or Bello and that is probably not likely
  23. keep Early and Mayer. Marte doesn't fit the Sox window or budget
