  1. i don't think Lowe was 36 before he became a good pitcher
  2. at least it is the name of the Red Sox game
  3. jury is out on that till we see how good Grissom really is
  4. maybe you will be {no disrespect intended}
  5. i guess we will see if Sale ends up missing much time this year. Sox didn't need him anyway given all the SP depth they have now
  6. kind of like saying in a poker hand--should i toss the 3 of clubs or the 5 of diamonds.
  7. in case you didn't get my point it was Grissom I was referencing
  8. Sox will find someone to take Janssen off our hands but we will need to retain a large chunk of his salary
  9. meanwhile Chris Sale has 17 K's in 11 ST innings
  10. Lorenzen to sign with Texas and NYY back in on Montgomery
  11. i don't disagree on not spending money on that position but think it is optimistic that Teal is in Boston by July given that he did not get hardly any ST games.
  12. Blake Snell to the Giants
  13. Blake Snell to the Giants
  14. the C position is another position the Sox pale in comparison to contending teams.
  15. it is doubtful Montgomery would be ready by opening day even if he were to sign today
  16. he won 10 games last year and lost 11. I know wins are not the best stat to gauge a pitcher but he played on a pretty good team. He has been pretty much a .500 pitcher with a decent ERA. I am not saying he is not a good SP but I don't see him as a guy who is a game changer on a team like the Sox. I would rather wait till May 1st and sign Blake Snell who IMO is a better SP. If Snell was in the same position as Montgomery I think he would be signed by now.
  17. With ST winding down it is pretty much time to predict the final AL East standings even though I know many are still holding out hope that John Henry lets some of the moths out of his wallet and signs Jordan Montgomery { unlikely in my view}. I will start with my predictions. 1} Baltimore 99-63 2} NYY 94-68 3} Tampa Bay 92-70 4} Toronto 87-75 5} Boston 81-81
  18. I think John Henry knows { because Breslow probably told him} that the Sox are NOT going to contend AGAIN this year so best NOT to spend the $$ on Montgomery who is about to be 32.
  19. Montgomery should NOT get the $$ and years he thinks he should get. He is far from an ace. If he was even a true #2 don't you think the NYY would have signed him ?
  20. i take no solace from the fact IF your numbers are proven to bear fruit. The bottom line is that at least on paper the Sox are the FIFTH best team in the AL East--the division they play in. They have been last in that division for 3 of the last 4 years and doomed to repeat there in 2024. Since they continue to put a .500 or thereabouts team on the field has John Henry apparently keeping enough fans happy and Fenway full. They have been mired in the mushy middle for far too long and given Henry's philosophy { or lack of interest} I don't see this changing any time soon.
  21. at this point I am so pi$$ed at John Henry that I would not be disappointed if they finish last again which I am confident they will
  22. you may be right but if it is me I wait till May 1st. there will be a rush for him by then
  23. i think he either signs a 1 year deal or sticks to the longer deal he has been after all along. A 3 year deal means that he likely won't get a big payday then. I think Bora$$ has overplayed his hand on Montgomery. A better than average SP but not an ace.
  24. they can get by till then without Snell who likely at this point would not be ready for opening day anyhow
