  1. you are way over-valuing Abreu. IMO. He is a nice platoon player but likely wouldn't return anything more than a decent reliever or back of the rotation SP of which we have several already. I don't care how much we apparently offered Soto but most reports say we were not close to getting him. Likely our offer was simply to drive up the cost for the 2 NY teams. To date this offseason the Sox have done nothing to convince me that Henry's goal of keeping the payroll down has changed at all. Only a Burnes signing could change my view. Not advocating for that -just using it as an example. Crochet was a great add {at a significant cost} but he is only at 3 million in 2025 and still arbitration eligible for 1 yr after that.
  2. the only trade the Sox will be making will either be one where we are shedding salary or two where we will NOT be adding significant salary.
  3. we got our backup C from the NYY trade
  4. and we will probably stay fairly close to that
  5. You have no need to worry. Henry won't approve a long term deal.
  6. people on this board were asking for Carson Kelly -well he got 11.5 million for 2 years--FAR TOO RICH FOR JOHN HENRY.. The ONLY reason we got Crochet was the 3 million he'll get this year and probably not a huge bump in arbitration [around 6 million?} for 2026. Then he will leave as a FA.
  7. That is my point too Moon
  8. i like that we got Crochet who is only 25 and fits in our window but I think we FAR overpaid. Hopefully we can extend him because if he turns out to be a 2 year rental it will cost Bres-slow his job
  9. the guy won't be able to pitch next year. Haven't we done this enough times already ???????????
  10. the Sox are very likely done now with the rotation and the CHEAP S...O..B OWNER SHOULD BE happy since Crochet will cost only 3 million next year and after 2 years he will be gone.
  11. they ARE saying that--just not publicly
  12. it will be the same excuse for Burnes now too.
  13. you made your point Splinter--7 times
  14. that is not going to happen. Casas is under control for 4 more seasons and Devers will whne if he is bumped off 3B. I don't trade any of our top 4 prospects for Crochet either. Sign Burnes as he is the only good SP left on the FA market.
  15. very little consolation and we also fell a few spots in the draft lottery today I believe
  16. sox will be lucky to bring back Pivetta
  17. i'd sign Burnes but not Bergman. we already have a 1B and 3B
  18. just when do we start the winning?
  19. no thanks. keep the top 5 prospects. The plan has ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS been to build from the farm and keep the payroll DOWN. Have we not figured this out YET???
