  1. we all wish him well. i just fear we are rushing him at this point. watching his highlights though he certainly has some swagger even a tad cocky I'd say
  2. not familiar with either
  3. no matter--we need to find a way to get rid of Yoshida. send him to Bloom
  4. i just hope we don't come to regret this. I have fears we may be using Tolle a bit too fast.
  5. i think they are rushing this kid. Hope it doesn't backfire
  6. Well I have never been known to be the most positive Red Sox fan and the site Love our Sox actually banned me for being too negative but I have to give props to Craig Breslow for his overall excellent work so far this season. Hell I even have to " reluctantly" give a small {very small} thumbs up to Ebenezer Henry for opening his wallet "just a tiny bit" this year. I was initially very skeptical of the FA signings of BOTH Alex Bregman and ESPECIALLY Alrodis Chapman but both have been NAILS this season. Even the 2 deadline low risk pickups in May and Matz have been impactful and so was the no-brainer pickup of Nathanial Lowe as well. Extending Anthony to a long term extension was a coup and I hope we can do the same with Mayer despite his injury history. He is a good player and hopefully will be in Boston long term. I really like that Breslow has focused on building the Pitching prospect depth as well and things look bright for the Sox long term. Hats off to to Mr Breslow !!
  7. former GG 1st baseman hitting .216 with 16 HR this yr
  8. in the short term at least. I'm not against the trade -just the piddly return but like I said it was all about the $$$
  9. especially when every other MLB team said it was a huge overpay.. Chaim Bloom-the gift that keeps on giving
  10. face it -we got nothing but salary relief in the Devers trade.
  11. if he keeps pitching like he has he would be crazy to accept it
  12. you are dreaming if you think the Sox are getting Skenes. I can see them going hard after Ryan though this offseason. He won't come cheap though and would likely cost Duran/Abreu, Campbell, and either Clarke, or Early. I keep Tolle for sure and though he does seem to be injury prone I prefer him over Campbell who's stock has likely fallen a bit.
  13. salaries are much higher today than they were when we traded Mookie and the Devers contract was for longer but I get your point. Still it was little more than a salary dump -plain and simple.
  14. can't disagree too much with that although the Sox did help to contribute to it. In the end I think we got less talent back than even in the Mookie deal.
  15. Many on here refuse to admit that. The so-callede top pitching we got in Kyle Harrison is not faring well in AAA. An era north of 4.50 and a whip of 1.79 along with 39 hits allowed in 31 innings. Like you say this was all about a salary dump.
  16. I can't disagree with some of what you have wrote here but do you actually the Sox improved with their trades as much as the other teams we are competing with for WC spots ??
  17. the fact is in relation to the rest of MLB Henry has cut payroll substantially since he fired DD. He has allowed whatever patsy he has hired since to spend just enough to keep the team around .500 for the 4-5 yrs simply to avoid a complete out roar from RSN. I think Breslow has done a pretty good job on the pitching development side as 3 of our top 5 prospects are now P and that doesn't even include this yr's 1st rd pick. Whether the trade of Devers was right or not he pretty much gave him away for nothing more than salary relief. For example why isn't the SP we got in the deal making the start tonight?? He was in the SF rotation and yet he has been in AAA for around 6 weeks now when we have needed a 5th SP. Doesn't bode all that well in my view. I have not even bothered to watch many Sox games the past 2 years out of disgust but given the additions both from the farm and Crochet and Bregman I was excited again about this year but the lack of real moves at the deadline has soured me again. Not sure we needed another LH reliever in Matz but maybe he reminds Breslow of himself. Dustin May MAY help a bit but he is far from a guarantee. But hey Henry let Breslow spend 5 million of Raffy's deal.
