  1. the fact is in relation to the rest of MLB Henry has cut payroll substantially since he fired DD. He has allowed whatever patsy he has hired since to spend just enough to keep the team around .500 for the 4-5 yrs simply to avoid a complete out roar from RSN. I think Breslow has done a pretty good job on the pitching development side as 3 of our top 5 prospects are now P and that doesn't even include this yr's 1st rd pick. Whether the trade of Devers was right or not he pretty much gave him away for nothing more than salary relief. For example why isn't the SP we got in the deal making the start tonight?? He was in the SF rotation and yet he has been in AAA for around 6 weeks now when we have needed a 5th SP. Doesn't bode all that well in my view. I have not even bothered to watch many Sox games the past 2 years out of disgust but given the additions both from the farm and Crochet and Bregman I was excited again about this year but the lack of real moves at the deadline has soured me again. Not sure we needed another LH reliever in Matz but maybe he reminds Breslow of himself. Dustin May MAY help a bit but he is far from a guarantee. But hey Henry let Breslow spend 5 million of Raffy's deal.
  2. this is NOT on Breslow. It is on the skin flint owner who could care less now and hasn't cared since firing DD.
  3. it will never happen. John Henry knows that
  4. Like every year the Sox are just happy to be in contention for a WC. anything around .500 is fine with John Henry as long as the payroll continues to drop in relation to all of the other teams.
  5. the Sox won't have a chance to compete until John Henry sells the team
  6. didn't we think Henry would approve spending some of the money HE saved in the Devers trade at the deadline??
  7. this may have moved the needle 5 yrs ago but not now. If this is it for deadline additions the team should have been sellers.
  8. Hicks is terrible. We got nothing back in the Devers trade that is helping us and of course Henry is sitting on the $$ he saved.
  9. the future does look bright. I wish we could acquire 1 more quality SP around the cores age.
  10. i still want the Sox to draft the best available college SP available providing it is fairly close. Need to bolster the P depth in the system.
  11. all of these options are nothing but band-aids and are a main reason the Sox are where they are right now. Remember when Grissom was to become our everyday 2B? Now we can't GIVE him away.
  12. with all the utmost respect Moon did you not say the same thing at this point in 2023 and 2024?
  13. other than Mayer our top prospects have all seen their trade value drop
  14. Sox are a complete disaster. Mired into a .500 team at best year after year. Top prospects are all here and all are struggling. As always our pitching stinks and our offence especially after the Devers giveaway stinks too.
  15. this team has not had a solid deadline plan for years now. Henry and co are happy with the team around .500 as long the payroll keeps moving down relative to the rest of MLB
  16. story needs to be moved. Henry missed a steak one day last week. Gotta cut that payroll down more.
  17. good luck with that trade happening
  18. this trade was done for 2 reasons 1} unload the $$$ and 2} Dever's bad attitude which the Sox helped manifest
  19. wow i can only listen to 1/2 of this from a couple of liars. Up until around the time DD was fired I was as big a RS fan as there was. . Since that time I have become disgusted with the direction since that time. John Henry has become a skinflint owner only interested in the bottom line. Since 2019 the Sox have been basically a .500 team while cutting back on the payroll. Henry's mandate has become to build from with-in the farm system with young COST CONTROLLED talent. Meanwhile hall of fame talent in Betts, Sale, and Devers have been shipped off for poor return overall. Now the team is counting on the young LOW PRICED talent to carry the team but once/if they become stars they will be shipped out once they get to a level they need to get paid. I was really looking forward to this season as it looked promising with the additions of Crochet and Bregman but the FO has simply proved once again that they are not really prepared to do what it takes to truly contend. Very sad time to be a Red Sox fan. No longer.
  20. Moon do you have any idea where the Sox stand in terms of payroll now and where they rank in MLB??
  21. no doubt Devers was a bit of a head case but he did own the Yankees and I sure hope you don't think Henry is going to let Breslow spend a good portion of that money saved>
