  1. that is certainly not a WS contender rotation. Not even close.
  2. i fully expect another Sandoval, Criswell, Fulmer, Hendriks....... type signing because they have all worked out great so far and I am sure I'm missing a few too.
  3. how many more years do we keep doing "one year bridge to the kids" ?
  4. Someone not here yet goes to #2 and Bello slides to #3. Given the results of several of the recent rehabbing SP I will believe it when I see Sandoval on the bump on a full time basis.
  5. i'd be shocked if JH approved any of Alonso, Bregman, or Bichette. think someone coming off any injury or a down year on a 1 yr deal with an option on a 2nd year
  6. wow you already have Sandoval as the #3 o4 SP next year. just WOW !!!
  7. if we DFA Grissom does that mean we lost the Sale trade?
  8. i don't see Schwarber leaving Philly. Alonso is a must get IMO. Casas could move to DH and then Yoshida could be moved. If Bregman leaves then I am interested in Suarez but I highly doubt that JH will allow Bregman to spend that type of $$ needed and there still is a glowing need for a #2 SP and at least high leverage RP. .
  9. i totally agree. Really liked Gray at the time but not so much now.
  10. i am not really a Yoshida fan but other than Mayer i don't see any of those guys being much of an upgrade af at all. Replace Yoshida with Alonso and I am good. Alonso is a MUST SIGN in my view but I will be SHOCKED ion JH bucks up.
  11. perfect for Joh Henry. he loves those 1 year deals.
  12. this team has the potential to be a true contender if only the tightwad John Henry would open his wallet. Lord knows he's saved enough by cutting back the past several seasons. For the Sox to truly contend they need/must sign Pete Alonso, add a TRUE #2 SP., another quality reliever, and solve the ever on-going 2B issue. If Bregman and or Story leave the Sox will need to replace that RH bat as well. Only then can the Sox truly contend for a WS.
  13. yet he was one of the few guys who actually hit in the postseason. just saying. now if getting rid of him means adding Pete Alonso then I'm all in
  14. i agree with pretty much all of what you have stated.
  15. the true fact of the matter no matter how you slice and dice the Sox were once in the top 3-4 in MLB payroll and are now somewhere between 10-14 in MLB payroll. Most fans feel the Devers extension was simply as a result of letting Mookie get away. Yes it turned out that Devers had a poor attitude but if Bregman leaves the Devers dump will hurt everywhere except JH's pocketbook. Had Bregman not been brought in Devers likely would not have gone off the deep end as he did. It has been JH's strategy for a few years now to build the roster from the strong group of prospects and add a few 1-2 yr FA signings along with taking gambles on rehabbing SP most if not all that have failed miserably. How much $$ were wasted on P who never made a contribution ? The trade for Crochet was brilliant and it was important to lock him up long term and I applaud that move. Still we need at least 1 more TOP SP if we are truly going to contend. We are also going to need AT LEAST 1 power bat and 2 if Bregman leaves.
  16. nothing happens till mid December so we are all wasting our time discussing what the Sox MIGHT do this offseason. Weak NFL day today so I am bored. I expect them to bring back Gioloto on a lower rate and add 1 other rehabbing SP on a 1 yr deal. Then maybe a reliever and a decent bat. That is about all I am expecting.
  17. i would certainly include Early but NOT Anthony. I like Early but you have to give to get and it will take a LOT more than him to get either of those 2 aces. Think Duran or Abreu plus at LEAST 2 more top prospects to even get the discussion started. Not mention why would 2 SP EVEN BE AVAILABLE???
  18. Sox fans have fallen for his cheap ways for several years now. i realize we still spend more than many teams but we have gone from in the top 3-4 in spending to somewhere between 10-14 now and it has shown in the standings. Yes we did spend on Bregman but it was only for 1 year and much of that was offset by dumping Devers for next to nothing.
  19. He will likely go to the Dodgers if they are interested in him.
  20. JH has shown for several years now that he is fine with complacency
  21. Unless IBregman and Story both leave I don’t see any significant FA signings. I think that the Sox will count on Mayer replacing at either SS or 3B and a cheaper option at the other spot. I think Story will stay and Casas will be back at 1B. I would expect a trade for a SP on a reasonable contract with some control and maybe a reliever or 2.
  22. that has certainly been the practice for the Sox in recent years to gamble on rehabbing SP on short term deals. It has worked so well in the past. Check back after the first week or 2 in December when things finally get going.
  23. you know the latter ain't happening
